The surface of a poly(styrene-hydroxyethylmethacrylate), macrocrystalline film was observed by atomic force microscopy in the contact mode, before and during film immersion in water. The swelling effect on film morphology is strongly dependent on the quality of the macrocrystalline surface: film integrity is preserved or concerted many-particle displacement is observed in well-organized areas with few defects, but extensive particle displacement is observed in highly defective areas. The lateral particle dimensions increase by ca. 10-15% only and particle aspect ratio is unaltered in the highly crystalline areas. However, film roughness is greatly decreased, and flat mirror-like surface domains are obtained due to the concerted effects of particle swelling and latex-water interfacial tension. Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO, the review was conducted in August 2024 across various databases. Eligible in vivo studies were analysed for their assessment of isotretinoin's effects on craniomaxillofacial bone.

Introducing dynamic covalent chemistries into polymer networks allows access to complex linear viscoelasticity, owing to the reversible nature of the dynamic bonds. While this macroscopic mechanical behavior is influenced by the dynamic exchange of these chemistries, connecting the microscopic dynamics to the bulk properties is hindered by the time scale conventional techniques can observe. Here, light scattering passive microrheology is applied to probe short-time dynamics of dynamic covalent networks that consist of telechelic benzalcyanoacetate (BCA) Michael acceptors and thiol-functionalized cross-linkers.

This study investigates the relationship between occupational automation risks and workers' transitions to entrepreneurship using data from the Current Population Survey. We find that employees facing automation-related job displacement are inclined to shift toward unincorporated entrepreneurship, emphasizing entrepreneurship as a viable alternative career path. Noteworthy variations emerge when examining specific automation technologies, revealing a positive association between industrial robots and entrepreneurial transitions, whereas artificial intelligence displays a negative relationship.

Voltage-dependence gating of ion channels underlies numerous physiological and pathophysiological processes, and disruption of normal voltage gating is the cause of many channelopathies. Here, long timescale atomistic simulations were performed to directly probe voltage-induced gating transitions of the big potassium (BK) channels, where the voltage sensor domain (VSD) movement has been suggested to be distinct from that of canonical Kv channels but remains poorly understood. Using a Core-MT construct without the gating ring, multiple voltage activation transitions were observed at 750 mV, allowing detailed analysis of the activated state of BK VSD and key mechanistic features.

Introduction: Fractures are a common occurrence in childhood, with approximately one-third of boys and girls sustaining at least one fracture before the age of 17. Both-bone forearm fractures, particularly those involving the radius and ulna, are more common in the non-dominant hand and in boys and usually involve the distal portions of both bones. If not properly treated, these injuries can have a significant impact on limb function.
