Antioxidant potential of alpha-lipoic acid in mitigating progression of experimental periodontitis.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of alpha-lipoic acid supplementation, a well-known antioxidant with therapeutic potential, on the progression of experimental periodontitis in rats. Eighteen male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups (n = 6 per group): control, periodontitis, and periodontitis treated with alpha-lipoic acid. Periodontitis was induced by placing bandages around the lower first molars for 14 days.

Blood concentrates for controlling postoperative complications from third molar surgeries: a scoping review.

Purpose: To map the literature on blood concentrates for managing postoperative sequelae after third molar extraction through a scoping review.

Methods: MedLine, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science were the search databases. MedRxiv and EASY provided the grey literature.

Photobiomodulation and Dentistry: Visualization and Analysis of Knowledge of the Most Cited Articles.

The aim of this study was to map and analyze the 20 most cited articles on the use of photobiomodulation (PBM) in different areas of dentistry. To this end, in June 2024, a search was carried out in the main Web of Science Core Collection for the most cited articles in the following areas: implantology, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, temporomandibular dysfunction and orofacial pain, oral pathology and stomatology, orthodontics, and periodontics. There were no restrictions regarding the year, type of study, and language of publication.

Global Trends and Future Research Directions for Temporomandibular Disorders and Stem Cells.

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is an umbrella term used to describe various conditions that affect temporomandibular joints, masticatory muscles, and associated structures. Although the most conservative and least invasive treatment is preferable, more invasive therapies should be employed to refractory patients. Tissue engineering has been presented as a promising therapy.
