This letter shows that that an estimated 31 million and 44 million adults self-report near-daily experiences of depression or anxiety, respectively. Of these, nearly a third have never spoken to a health care provider about it.

Since 2021, hospitals have been required to report the prices of common, shoppable services, including drugs, as per the Hospital Price Transparency Rule. In this paper, we used Hospital Price Transparency data aggregated by Turquoise Health to investigate the usability of price transparency data to evaluate variation in reimbursement for provider-administered drugs. We extracted records for 30 procedure codes corresponding to provider-administered drugs reported by at least 1,000 National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) and evaluated variability in rates reported for each procedure code.

Background: The goal of this study is to estimate the association between hospital system market share and negotiated prices. Hospital system consolidation has led to many highly concentrated markets where systems can leverage their market share to negotiate higher commercial prices. Recently, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, under its Transparency in Coverage initiative, required health insurers to release all negotiated commercial prices, providing, for the first time, publicly available, nationally representative data on commercial rates.
