Background: This mixed methods study was conducted to develop and evaluate the feasibility of the 8-week Sensemaking Coaching program for communication training for bedside intensive care unit nurses.
Method: We adopted a one-group pre- and posttest design with six intensive care unit nurses working at a tertiary care hospital in Seoul, South Korea. The Sensemaking Coaching program consisted of three steps (Step 1, on-demand lectures; Step 2, simulation workshop; and Step 3, coaching, including self-reflection and small group sessions).
Background: Machine learning (ML) models may offer greater clinical utility than conventional risk scores, such as the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) and Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) risk scores. However, there is a lack of knowledge on whether ML or traditional models are better at predicting the risk of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who have undergone percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI).
Objective: The aim of this study is to systematically review and critically appraise studies comparing the performance of ML models and conventional risk scores for predicting MACCEs in patients with AMI who have undergone PCI.
This retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate preoperative frailty in older adults undergoing brain tumor surgery using the laboratory-based frailty index (FI-LAB) and its association with clinical outcomes. Data were from electronic medical records of individuals aged ≥ 65 years who had brain tumor surgery between 2015 and 2022 at a general hospital in Seoul, South Korea. The FI-LAB included 26 preoperative laboratory tests and five vitality parameters.

However, there is a lack of mobile health (mHealth) interventions that engage both patients and their family caregivers to promote HF self-care.
Objective: The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to develop and confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of a novel mHealth intervention based on patient-family caregiver dyads for promoting adherence to self-care by patients with HF.
Background: Mutuality may serve as a protective factor against depression for both patients with heart failure (HF) and their caregivers. Mutuality, a sense of positive interaction, is associated with better self-care for HF patients and for lower levels of depression. The mechanism linking mutuality to improved self-care and lowered depression is unclear.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at a tertiary care university hospital. Researchers collected medical record data from April 2010 to March 2020 and conducted backward selection in multiple logistic regression.
The concept of shared decision-making, which respects the autonomy of patients with chronic kidney disease in the process of choosing dialysis modalities, has been emphasized. Studies clearly defining the process of selecting dialysis methods for chronic kidney disease patients remain limited. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis of shared decision-making in choosing dialysis modalities among patients with chronic kidney disease.

This study aimed to identify frailty trajectories among older adults diagnosed with cancer, as well as the impacts of frailty trajectories on cognitive decline at an eight-year follow-up. We used longitudinal data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging. A total of 173 older Korean cancer survivors were included in our analysis.

Background: Despite advances in prevention and treatment, postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is the most common type of complication undergoing cardiac surgery. This study aimed to identify the relationship between POAF and clinical outcomes after coronary artery bypass graft.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 324 patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass grafting in an intensive care unit between 2010 and 2019 at a tertiary hospital in Korea.

Digital health technology is utilized in contemporary nursing practice and education. This review explored the scope of digital health applications and major trends in nursing research involving digital health in Korea using topic modeling. Our analysis of data using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation model identified four distinct research topics: nursing education using digital technologies (35.

This study aimed to develop a model for identifying predictors of survival over time in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest during their stay in the emergency department, using ensemble-based machine learning. A total of 26 013 patients from the Korean nationwide out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry were enrolled between January 1 and December 31, 2019.

Aim: To determine the longitudinal patterns and factors associated with cognitive function among older cancer survivors.
Objectives: To synthesize quantitative research findings on the prevalence and risk factors for in-hospital mortality of patients on veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO).
Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted for the period from May 2008 to December 2023 by searching the five electronic databases of PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Cochrane library. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale.

Aims: Heart failure (HF) is one of the most frequent diagnoses for 30-day readmission after hospital discharge. Nurses have a role in reducing unplanned readmission and providing quality of care during HF trajectories. This systematic review assessed the quality and significant factors of machine learning (ML)-based 30-day HF readmission prediction models.

Objective: This study aimed to identify the factors that influence self-care behavior in patients with AF.
Methods: The study used an integrated behavioral model and collected data from 216 patients diagnosed with AF.
This study aimed to determine the factors associated with nursing professionalism among Korean nursing students. This cross-sectional study was carried out using a convenient sample comprising 247 students enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science Nursing program from September 6-27, 2021. A self-reported structured questionnaire was employed to explore the relationships among ego-resilience, self-leadership, clinical learning environment, academic satisfaction, clinical competency, and nursing professionalism by utilizing structural equation modeling.

Methods And Results: This retrospective medical record review using purposive sampling was conducted at a tertiary care university hospital in Korea. Medical records of a total of 303 patients (≥40 years) who underwent successful PCI between January 2014 and December 2020 were analysed.
Purpose: This study aims to identify longitudinal patterns and predictors of cognitive function trajectories among Korean older adults with cardiovascular diseases.
Design: This study is a longitudinal panel analysis based on secondary data. Data from the the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) were used for analysis.
Objective: To identify factors associated with the 30-day in-hospital mortality rate among adult patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in intensive care units.
Research Methodology: Retrospective cohort study including 148 patients who underwent ECMO for at least 48 h between March 2010 and August 2021. The patients were divided into survivors and non-survivors based on their 30-day in-hospital survival.
Aims: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of a 24-week interactive text message-based mobile health intervention (called) on enhancing the self-care behaviours of patients with heart failure.
Background: Whether text message-based mobile health intervention can be used to improve long-term adherence to self-care behaviours among heart failure patients remains unclear.

Background: Adherence to self-care behaviours is crucial to prevent hospital readmissions; however, self-care behaviours remain unsatisfactory among patients with heart failure. Studies of long-term trajectories of self-care behaviours and their influence on hospital readmissions are limited in this population.
