Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to examine the effect of 11q loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgical outcomes in neuroblastoma (NB) patients with MYCN amplification.
  • Retrospective analysis of 42 newly diagnosed NB patients revealed that those with 11qLOH had a lower clinical response to chemotherapy, with fewer patients showing significant improvements on MIBG scans compared to those without 11qLOH.
  • While there was no significant difference in surgical resection rates or survival outcomes between the two groups, the data suggested that 11qLOH may contribute to a poorer response to treatment in NB patients with MYCN amplification.

Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) are serious problems for healthcare systems, especially in developing countries where public health infrastructure and technology for infection preventions remain undeveloped. Here, we characterized how strategy and technology could be mobilized to improve the effectiveness of infection prevention and control in hospitals during the outbreaks of Ebola, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Asia and West Africa. Published literature on the hospital-borne outbreaks of SARS, Ebola, and MERS in Asia and West Africa was comprehensively reviewed.
