Background: The concept of treatable traits has been proposed for managing chronic cough; however, evidence supporting its clinical utility remains limited. This study investigated the relationship between baseline traits and cough persistence in a prospective registry of patients with chronic cough.
Methods: We analysed data from 426 patients with chronic cough enrolled in the Korean Chronic Cough Registry.

Background: Patients with chronic cough frequently present with abnormal throat sensations, but the clinical significance of such sensations remains unknown. This study examined the severity of throat sensations and their relationships with quality of life (QoL) in patients with chronic cough.
Methods: The analysis used baseline cross-sectional data from the Korean Chronic Cough Registry.

Indium-based oxide semiconductors have been commercialized because of their excellent electrical properties, but the high cost, limited availability, and environmental toxicity of indium necessitate the development of alternative materials. Among the most promising candidates, zinc-tin oxide (ZTO) is an indium-free oxide semiconductor with considerable potential, but its relatively low carrier mobility and inherent limitations in thin-film quality demand further performance enhancements. This paper proposes a new approach to overcome these challenges by incorporating single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as conductive fillers into the ZTO matrix and using a layer-by-layer multiple coating process to construct nanocomposite thin films.

This study analyzed ICD-10 coding patterns among 331 RCC patients enrolled in the Korean Chronic Cough Registry. Each patient had a median of 3 [IQR: 2-4] ICD-10 codes at their most recent outpatient visit.

Background: Despite treatment advances, managing asthma remains challenging owing to variability in response across different type 2 inflammation phenotypes. We aimed to compare the differences in pre-treatment profiles related to 12-month asthma exacerbation in patients with baseline high and low blood eosinophil count (BEC) levels.
Methods: This study included 438 and 231 patients with asthma with pre-treatment BEC levels >300 cells·μL (high BEC) and <150 cells·μL (low BEC), respectively, and no history of systemic corticosteroid use.
Background: African swine fever (ASF) is a crucial socioeconomic setback to South Korea's swine industry. This study aimed to determine seropositivity for ASF virus (ASFV) in pigs that appeared to be infected on farms with reported ASF outbreaks.
Methods: A total of 2232 sera from ASF outbreaks (2019-2024) in South Korea were collected.
Objectives: The global disease burden of infections in 2017 included 135 900 deaths caused by Typhi and Paratyphi and 77 500 deaths caused by invasive non-typhoidal , with increasing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) exacerbating morbidity, mortality and costs. The aim of our systematic review and meta-analysis is to estimate the length of hospital stay and associated treatment costs for patients with susceptible and antibiotic-resistant Typhi, Paratyphi and non-typhoidal infections.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Chronic cough, which affects 5%-18% of adults, has traditionally been considered a symptom defined by its duration. However, recent advances in understanding the pathophysiology of chronic cough have prompted the concept that chronic cough may exist as a distinct clinical entity driven by neuronal dysregulation and cough hypersensitivity. This evolving perspective recognizes various treatable traits and clinical characteristics which support the notion of cough as a disease entity and beyond that of a symptom-based classification.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) genotype II has been circulating in South Korea, causing substantial economic losses to the Korean pig industry since 2019. Genetic epidemiological investigations using whole-genome sequencing have been conducted to track the genetic evolution of ASFV. Two ASFV strains were detected in domestic pig farms in South Korea, one with a large deletion in the MGF 360-6L gene and the other in the MGF 360-21R gene.

Background: Adequate postoperative pain management after cesarean section is important for the prognosis of both mother and infant. However, excessive prescription of opioid analgesics has become a concern. This study evaluated the efficacy of local continuous subfascial infusion of ropivacaine in relieving postoperative pain and reducing opioid requirements in postpartum women with cesarean section.

However, confidence in the magnitude and timing of these projected changes remains low, leaving societies largely unprepared. Here we show that constraining model projections with observations using a newly proposed emergent constraint (EC) reduces the uncertainty in predictions of a core drought indicator, the longest annual dry spell (LAD), by 10-26% globally.

Aim: A rigorous examination of the occupational features across cultures helps draw policy recommendations for nurses' quality care practices and good health. This study aimed to explore the differences in work characteristics and health status between Korean and US hospital nurses.
Design: For this comparative secondary data analysis study, we constructed a dataset with 304 pairs of nurses from Korea and the United States, matched by age and gender.

Objective: To compare and analyze professional (P chart) and simple (S chart) clinical image evaluation charts for evaluating panoramic radiograph image quality.
Methods: Ten evaluators assessed 285 clinical panoramic radiograph images. The evaluators were divided into oral and maxillofacial radiologists (OMFR, n = 5) and general dentist (dentists not specializing in oral and maxillofacial radiology, G, n = 5) groups.
Non-invasive diagnostics are crucial for the timely detection of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), significantly improving survival rates. Despite advancements, specific lipid markers for RCC remain unidentified. We aimed to discover and validate potent plasma markers and their association with dietary fats.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is a human gene therapy product where T cells from a patient are genetically modified to enable them to recognize desired target antigen(s) more effectively. In recent years, promising antitumor activity has been seen with autologous CAR T cells. Since 2017, six CAR T-cell therapies for the treatment of hematological malignancies have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

African swine fever (ASF), a contagious viral disease, poses a significant threat to the global swine industry. In South Korea, ASF outbreaks have occurred since 2019, highlighting the need for a comprehensive understanding of the epidemiology and genetic characterization of the circulating African swine fever viruses (ASFVs). We obtained 21 ASFV isolates from domestic pig farms and analyzed their whole-genome sequences using the Illumina MiniSeq.

Background: Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I chain-related protein (MIC) is a stress-induced ligand released from multiple myeloma (MM) cells during progression, and soluble MIC impairs natural killer group 2D (NKG2D) activating receptor-mediated recognition and function of natural killer (NK) cells. However, whether clearing soluble MIC with a monoclonal antibody (mAb) can restore NK cell activity of MM patients remains undetermined.
Methods: We analyzed The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) CoMMpass data set to examine the prognostic significance of expression in MM.

Rationale: Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome is a neurological condition characterized by headache, convulsions, altered consciousness, and visual disturbance with specific radiological features, which is characterized by contrast enhancement in the occipital lobe on T2-weighted image. We report a case of sudden visual impairment of both eyes 6 days after childbirth diagnosed as postpartum preeclampsia and posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) through radiological examination.
Patient Concerns: A 31-year-old female patient with headache and visual disturbance visited the clinic.
