The Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) instrument, launched in April 2023, is North America's first geostationary air pollution monitoring satellite mission. Together with Asia's Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) launched in 2020 and Europe's upcoming Sentinel-4, TEMPO contributes to nearly global coverage provided by geostationary satellite constellation. TEMPO and GEMS offer hourly, high-resolution data of ozone surpassing the once-daily observations of instruments like the TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) in temporal resolution.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of disability and mortality worldwide. However, existing treatments still face numerous clinical challenges. Building on our prior research showing peripheral nerve-derived stem cell (PNSC) spheroids with Schwann cell-like phenotypes can secrete neurotrophic factors to aid in neural tissue regeneration, we hypothesized that repeated intrathecal injections of PNSC spheroids would improve the delivery of neurotrophic factors, thereby facilitating the restoration of neurological function and brain tissue repair post-TBI.

In this article we review the history of key epidemiological studies of populations exposed to ionizing radiation. We highlight historical and recent findings regarding radiation-associated risks for incidence and mortality of cancer and non-cancer outcomes with emphasis on study design and methods of exposure assessment and dose estimation along with brief consideration of sources of bias for a few of the more important studies. We examine the findings from the epidemiological studies of the Japanese atomic bomb survivors, persons exposed to radiation for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, those exposed to environmental sources including Chornobyl and other reactor accidents, and occupationally exposed cohorts.

Periodontal disease is a chronic disease with a high prevalence, and in order to secure natural materials to prevent oral diseases, new materials that protect periodontal tissue from inflammation are being sought. Genes were identified using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), and proteins were confirmed using Western blot. Methods: From May 24, 2016, to June 30, 2017, 20,608 participants completed the questionnaire, providing information on sociodemographics, lifestyle, work history and practices, medical radiation exposure, and medical history, which was linked to the National Dose Registry and the National Cancer Registry. Ferroptosis is a recently recognized process of cell death characterized by accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxides. Herein, we demonstrate that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ (PPARδ) inhibits ferroptosis of mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) derived from cysteine/glutamate transporter (xCT)-knockout mice. Activation of PPARδ by the specific ligand GW501516 led to a dose-dependent decrease in ferroptotic cell death triggered by xCT deficiency, along with decreased levels of intracellular iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation.
