Palladium (Pd) and titanium (Ti) exhibit opposite dielectric responses upon hydrogenation, with stronger effects observed in the near-infrared (NIR) region. Leveraging this contrast, we investigated Ti/Pd bilayer thin films as a platform for NIR hydrogen sensing-particularly at telecommunication-relevant wavelengths, where such devices have remained largely unexplored. Ti/Pd bilayers coated with Teflon AF (TAF) and fabricated via sequential electron-beam and thermal evaporation were characterized using optical transmission measurements under repeated hydrogenation cycles.

Acute pancreatitis as an initial manifestation of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) has been rarely reported. We report a case of acute pancreatitis from a hyperfunctioning parathyroid tumor in an 87-year-old woman with drowsy state. Laboratory tests showed high lipase, calcium, and intact parathyroid hormone level, and abdominal computed tomography scan revealed acute pancreatitis.

Influenza burden estimates are essential to informing prevention and control policies. To complement recent influenza vaccine production capacity in Vietnam, we used acute respiratory infection (ARI) hospitalization data, severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) surveillance data, and provincial population data from 4 provinces representing Vietnam's major regions during 2014-2016 to calculate provincial and national influenza-associated ARI and SARI hospitalization rates. The VA's 2009 Pain Management Directive introduced the Stepped Care Model, which emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to pain management involving pain referrals and management from primary to specialty care providers. Background: In 2016, as a component of the Global Health Security Agenda, the Vietnam Ministry of Health expanded its existing influenza sentinel surveillance for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) to include testing for 7 additional viral respiratory pathogens. This article describes the steps taken to implement expanded SARI surveillance in Vietnam and reports data from 1 year of expanded surveillance.

The syntheses are reported for two novel Tb(3+) heterotrimetallic cyanometallates, K(2)[Tb(H(2)O)(4)(Pt(CN)(4))(2)]Au(CN)(2)·2H(2)O (1) and [Tb(C(10)N(2)H(8))(H(2)O)(4)(Pt(CN)(4))(Au(CN)(2))]·1.5C(10)N(2)H(8)·2H(2)O (2) (C(10)N(2)H(8) = 2,2'-bipyridine).
