Sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT) of the spleen is a rare, benign vascular lesion that poses significant diagnostic challenges owing to its nonspecific clinical and radiological features. We herein report the case of a 35-year-old male who presented with chronic left hypochondrial pain and was found to have a splenic mass with poor enhancement on computed tomography (CT) and an increased fluorodeoxyglucose uptake on positron emission tomography-CT. Total splenectomy was performed, and a histopathological examination revealed well-demarcated angiomatoid nodules with varying vascular channels, fibrosclerosis, and hemosiderin deposition.

In this study, the potential anti-tyrosinase, antioxidant, and ultraviolet (UV) absorption efficiency of the extracts of different parts of Castanea mollissima were evaluated. The leaf extract exhibited the most potential antioxidant effect with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging abilities of >90%. C.

Chronic rhinosinusitis is a prevalent condition characterized by inflammation of the nasal and paranasal sinus cavities, significantly impacting quality of life and healthcare utilization. Computed tomography imaging is vital in assessing anatomical variations that may contribute to chronic rhinosinusitis pathogenesis. This study aimed to identify anatomical variations in the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses using CT imaging and explore their relationship with sinus mucosal abnormalities.

Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PrP) is a blood derivative with positive roles in regenerative medicine, particularly in wound healing. Evidence has been reported for using peripheral blood-derived PrP in disease treatments, but umbilical cord blood (UCB)-derived PrP remains limited. Thus, we investigate the roles of UCB-derived PrP in cellular behaviours in vitro and in wound healing in vivo models.

Background: Giving contrast material before H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) could enhance the precision of locating the lesion of interest. However, evidence indicates that contrast material might influence the outcomes of MRS.

Purpose: To verify the effect of gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) on MRS in normal white matter.

Background: May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is a continuous pathological change of the left common iliac vein intraluminal wall due to compression between the right common iliac artery and a lumbar vertebra, with clinical signs of compromised venous drainage of the left leg, which eventually leads to development of left-sided deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Purpose: To analyze the correlation between iliac vessel geometry and probability of DVT in patients with MTS.

Material And Methods: This study consists of two age-matched female groups: DVT (n = 21) and control (n = 28).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to create a systematic method to evaluate the bone healing process after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) using volumetric analysis.
  • Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was utilized to capture data before, immediately after, and 6-12 months post-surgery, with both manual and semi-automatic image segmentation methods compared for effectiveness.
  • Results showed that the semi-automatic method had better consistency and repeatability than manual segmentation, suggesting it could improve the monitoring of bone healing in patients after BSSO.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to describe and classify lumbosacral spine injuries using the new AOSpine classification system based on data from a hospital in Vietnam.
  • A total of 75 patients were examined, predominantly male, with falls and traffic accidents as the main causes; most injuries showed no neurological symptoms, while A3 fractures were the most common.
  • Findings highlight the demographics and injury types, suggesting a need for tailored treatment protocols, as type A fractures were prevalent and sacral fractures less common but often linked to pelvic injuries.

This paper presents a systematic literature review focused on the use of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) combined with PCA, a multivariate technique, for determining the geographical origin of plant foods. Recent studies selected and applied the ICP-MS analytical method and PCA in plant food geographical traceability. The collected results from many previous studies indicate that ICP-MS with PCA is a useful tool and is widely used for authenticating and certifying the geographic origin of plant food.

We reported a case of a 48-year-old female patient admitted to the hospital due to balance disorder which progressed rapidly within 1 week. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging showed significant atrophy and hyperintensities at the middle cerebellar peduncles and the "hot cross bun" sign of the pons. The final diagnosis was probable multiple system atrophy, cerebellar subtype.

Various types of dermal fillers have been developing for soft tissue augmentation. Even though many fillers have been approved and strictly regulated by authorities, homemade products for body contouring procedures are widely available and easily purchased on websites without prescriptions. It is challenging for radiologists to interpret radiological findings of complicated breast augmentation of unknown origin.
