Background: Smoking is a well-established risk factor for postoperative complications following open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for rotational ankle fractures. However, the effect of non-tobacco nicotine (NTN) use on these outcomes remains unclear, despite the increasing use of products such as vapes. This retrospective cohort study investigates whether perioperative NTN use is associated with increased postoperative complications following ankle ORIF compared with a nicotine-independent (NI) control group.

Methods: We used data from the TriNetX Global Collaborative Network, which aggregates electronic health records from approximately 165 million patients across 19 countries. Adults aged 18 to 40 years diagnosed with each inflammatory skin condition (with no history of corneal disorders) between April 1, 2016, and August 1, 2019, were matched 1:1 with controls on demographics and known KC risk factors.
Introduction: Ankle sprains are among the most common injuries treated by foot and ankle specialists. Despite increasing online health information-seeking behavior, existing information on ankle sprains has been criticized by physicians for poor quality and readability. ChatGPT-4 and Google Gemini are artificial intelligence chatbots known for their accessible interfaces and versatility, making them popular for patient self-education.

Methods: Using TriNetX, patients aged 18 or older were divided into bipolar and non-bipolar cohorts. The bipolar cohort was subdivided into five sub-cohorts: no medication use, exclusive lithium use, exclusive atypical antipsychotic use, exclusive mood-stabilizing antiepileptics use, and exclusive antidepressant use.
Objectives: This study assessed the comprehensiveness and readability of medical information about complex regional pain syndrome provided by ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, and Google using standardized scoring systems.
Design: A Google search was conducted using the term "complex regional pain syndrome," and the first 10 frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers generated were recorded. ChatGPT was presented these FAQs generated by Google, and its responses were evaluated alongside Google's answers using multiple metrics.
Background: There is a scarcity of literature concerning individuals who have existing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and their outcomes after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study compared outcomes in patients undergoing primary TKA who have a previous history of PTSD.
Methods: An electronic health care database was used to identify patients diagnosed with PTSD undergoing TKA.
