Purpose Of Review: This paper is an update of the publications on Transitional Pain Services and explores the viability of a dedicated transitional pain service for women.

Recent Findings: We address common pain pathologies establishing referral criteria, pathways, and effective strategies to decrease chronification of pain during pregnancy.

Summary: This review highlights the importance establishing transitional pain service models at every institution and in particular in obstetric population as pain is normalized by Society during pregnancy.

Our study sought to explore the spectrum of CVD present in pregnant women in the United Arab Emirates to better understand this population's unique needs and challenges. Central to our study is an emphasis on the importance of implementing a multidisciplinary approach that involves the collaboration of obstetricians, cardiologists, geneticists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.

Background And Objectives: Effective postoperative analgesia after cesarean delivery enhances early recovery, ambulation, and breastfeeding. In a previous study, we established the effectiveness of the quadratus lumborum block in providing pain relief after cesarean delivery compared with patient-controlled analgesia (morphine). In the current study, we hypothesized that this method would be equal to or better than the transversus abdominis plane block with regard to pain relief and its duration of action after cesarean delivery.

Background: Effective postoperative analgesia after caesarean section is important because it enables early ambulation and facilitates breast-feeding. Several case reports have shown that local anaesthetic injection around the quadratus lumborum muscle is effective in providing pain relief after various abdominal operations and in patients with chronic pain. The quadratus lumborum block (QLB) is performed in close proximity to the surface and uses a fascial compartment path to extend the distribution of local anaesthesia into the posterior abdominal wall and paravertebral space.

Background: Phenylephrine induces maternal bradycardia in 50% of mothers when used for prevention and treatment of spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension during caesarean delivery. Rapid fluid administration immediately after initiation of the spinal block (co-loading) may have a vasopressor sparing effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypothesis that when using rapid crystalloid co-loading, an infusion of 50 mcg/minute of PE could be as effective as 100 mcg/minute in preventing maternal hypotension but with minimal maternal bradycardia and an acceptable fetal outcome.

Horner's syndrome is a rare complication of epidural analgesia in labour. Although it is a sign of high sympathetic block, patients are usually haemodynamicaly stable. We report a case of undiagnosed Horner's syndrome complicating epidural analgesia in labour, where a standard dose of local anaesthetic was given for an emergency caesarean section without problems.
