Back Ground: Renal pelvis rupture due to trauma is commonly diagnosed in an excretory phase CT scan, which is not be applied in substantial proportion of trauma patients during initial evaluation. Since renal pelvis rupture has no specific findings, there is no clear indication to perform an excretory phase CT scan in the evaluation of trauma patients. We experienced a case presented with low-density fluid accumulation around kidney on plain CT imaging, subsequently diagnoses as having isolated renal pelvis injury.

Background: An accurate and rapid pathologic diagnostic in fulminant myocarditis is crucial for appropriate therapeutic decision-making. Since giant cells can appear in various conditions, careful judgment based on repeated imaging, pathological analysis, and close clinical follow-up is essential to make precise decisions.

Case Summary: A previously healthy 36-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with haemodynamic compromise requiring mechanical circulatory support.

Background: Although aortic valve (AV) opening during exercise has fewer adverse events in patients with a left ventricular (LV) assist device (LVAD), factors associated with it remain unclear. We hypothesized that right ventricular (RV) reserve function is associated with the AV opening status. This study aimed to explore the hemodynamic parameters observed at rest and during maximal exercise and investigate the association between the RV reserve function and AV opening status in patients with an LVAD.

Background Changes in mode of transportation, such as driving cessation, elevate the risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease among older adults residing in communities. However, the association between transportation-related lifestyles and cognitive function in older adults with MCI remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the relationship between mobility independence and cognitive dysfunction among older patients with MCI.

An asymmetric Mannich-type reaction of -protected 2-(cyanomethyl)benzimidazoles with -benzoyl imines was developed by using chiral phosphoric acid as a chiral Brønsted acid catalyst. Products having vicinal trisubstituted carbon stereogenic centers were formed in a highly diastereo- and enantioselective manner, even though one of the stereogenic centers had an active methine proton. Comprehensive control experiments revealed that high stereoselectivity was achieved through a kinetically controlled process.

Introduction: Female pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is considered a borderline disease between urology and gynecology and is treated by reconstructive surgery, which restores the organs to their original positions.

Case Presentation: An 82-year-old woman with bladder and uterine prolapse at POP-Q Stage IV was treated with an indwelling catheter for voiding dysfunction. Eventually, the catheter has been often spontaneously removed when pelvic organ prolapse occurs, resulting in a diagnosis of bladder inversion.

5,10-Bis(phenyl-sulfon-yl)tetra-hydro-dibenzo-penta-lene, CHOS, , was suc-cessfully synthesized the photocatalyst-promoted hy-dro-genative transannulation of di-sulfonyl-cyclo-octa-tetra-ene, , using perylene as the photocatalyst in the presence of (-Pr)NEt under UV-light irradiation (398 nm, 30 W). In this reaction, the cyclo-octa-tetra-ene moiety of underwent hy-dro-genative transannulation, yielding . Single-crystal X-ray analysis revealed that both enanti-omers of are arranged alternately along the axis of the unit cell.

Intravesical instillation of chemotherapy has been performed to reduce the risk of intravesical recurrence of bladder cancer. However, its antitumor effect is not necessarily sufficient, which may be partially due to inadequate delivery of intravesically administered chemotherapeutic agents to bladder tumors. Ultrasound irradiation to target tissues in the presence of microbubbles is a technique to transiently enhance cell membrane permeability and achieve efficient drug delivery to the desired sites without damage to non-target areas; this technique has been used in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, and radiotherapy for the treatment of various cancers.

Bone remodeling is regulated by the interaction between receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) and its receptor RANK on osteoblasts and osteoclasts, respectively. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is secreted from osteoblasts and inhibits osteoclast differentiation by acting as a decoy receptor for RANKL. Despite its importance, the mechanism underlying the secretion of OPG remains poorly understood.

Article Synopsis
  • Distant recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer is a rare and challenging condition to detect during follow-up.
  • A 73-year-old woman with a history of bladder cancer developed tumors in her axilla, lungs, lymph nodes, and adrenal glands, initially misdiagnosed as metastatic breast cancer.
  • The diagnosis was corrected to metastatic urothelial carcinoma after a biopsy, emphasizing the need to consider bladder cancer as a potential source of distant metastases even when there's no sign of recurrence in the urinary tract.

Article Synopsis
  • Frailty assessment is important for determining treatment strategies in patients with aortic stenosis (AS) who are undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and the revised Japanese Cardiovascular Health Study (J-CHS) criteria is being tested for its effectiveness.
  • A study involving 205 severe AS patients revealed that 51% were classified as frail using the revised J-CHS criteria, which indicated a significant association with major adverse cardiac or cerebrovascular events (MACCE) during follow-up.
  • The findings suggest that frailty evaluated by the revised J-CHS criteria can help predict clinical outcomes and may be a useful tool for risk stratification in Japanese patients with AS undergoing TAVR.
