Background: Intrauterine exposure of the developing fetus or neonate to bendodiazepine may lead to fetal abnormalities or adverse reactions. We sought to investigate whether benzodiazepine use before or during different trimesters of pregnancy had different associations with incident preterm births (PTB) or small for gestational age (SGA) infants.
Methods: We conducted a 13-year longitudinal cohort study incorporating population-wide, sibling, and paternal comparisons.
Background: Glycemic variability (GV) is an important indicator for glycemic control. Identifying factors contributing to GV may support development of targeted interventions. Besides non-modifiable factors, sleep plays a role in glucose regulation.

This study investigated potential gut microbiota biomarkers and functional pathways in 106 antidepressant-naïve depressive patients and 151 healthy controls, with careful of confounding factors. Stool samples were analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing, revealing significantly lower alpha diversity and distinct beta diversity in depressive patients.

Objective: This study explores the diagnostic and monitoring capabilities of Fourier transform, a frequency-domain analysis method, in mood disorders by leveraging GPS data as an objective measure.
Methods: A total of 62 participants (BP: n=20, MDD: n=27, and healthy controls: n=15) contributed 5177 person-days of data over observation periods ranging from 5 days to 6 months.
Background: Speech and language therapy (ST) might moderate the prognosis in children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) comorbid with speech delay. This study investigated whether ST in children with ADHD is associated with a decreased risk of subsequent psychiatric disorders.
Aim: To investigate whether ST in children with ADHD is associated with a decreased risk of subsequent psychiatric disorders.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in children, and montelukast is widely prescribed to manage symptoms. However, concerns have emerged regarding its potential association with neuropsychiatric disorders. This study aims to investigate the impact of montelukast duration on neuropsychiatric risks in children with asthma.

Methods: Adult patients with breast cancer stages I-III without brain metastasis were invited to participate in this longitudinal follow-up study.
Background: Exposure to illicit substances during pregnancy may have long-term impacts on children's neurodevelopment. This study explores subsequent risks for intellectual disability, autistic disorders, and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders in children born to mothers exposed to illicit substances before or during pregnancy.
Methods: We identified women with illicit drug use by linking the police records from the "Substance Abuse Control Databases" and Taiwan Birth Registration and Birth Notification records from 2004 to 2014.
Background: Although significant research has explored the digital phenotype in mood disorders, the time-lagged and bidirectional relationship between mood and global positioning system (GPS) mobility remains relatively unexplored. Leveraging the widespread use of smartphones, we examined correlations between mood and behavioral changes, which could inform future scalable interventions and personalized mental health monitoring.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the bidirectional time lag relationships between passive GPS data and active ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data collected via smartphone app technology.
Background: Anxiety and depressive disorders, characterized by high incidence and functional impairments, are emotional disorders with shared etiological and maintenance mechanisms. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a promising approach for the transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders. Developing a brief DBT intervention can facilitate the adoption of evidence-based therapy.

Background: The Taiwanese government adopted the National Health Insurance (NHI) system in March 1995. This study aimed to understand the difference in medication costs before (year 2019) and during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021) among different hospitals for treating their patients.
Methods: The NHI claims database consisting of claims of prescription drugs for inpatients (IPD) and outpatients (OPD) in Taiwan was used to determine drug expenditure in different hospitals, particularly the top 10 prescription Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) categories.
Muscle damage can occur due to excessive, high-intensity, or inappropriate exercise. It is crucial for athletes and sports enthusiasts to have access to ways that expedite their recovery and alleviate discomfort. Our previous clinical trial demonstrated the anti-inflammatory and muscle damage-ameliorating properties of PS23 (PS23), prompting us to further explore the role of this probiotic in muscle damage recovery.

This study utilized a nationwide data base in Taiwan, enrolling all liveborn children registered in the National Health Insurance system between 2004 and 2016. Subjects were divided into two groups: antidepressant-exposed (n = 55,707)) and antidepressant-unexposed group (n = 2,245,689).

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a neuroactive steroid, levels rise in response to stress. Prior research on the association between DHEA and anxiety has yielded contradictory results and no study has investigated this association in LC patients.

Purpose: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may be associated with increased mortality, but relevant findings have been inconsistent. The modifying effects of gender and intellectual disability on excess mortality in individuals with ASD are underexplored.
Patients And Methods: Using Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database and the National Death Registry, this population-based cohort study selected the data of 75,946 patients with ASD (ASD cohort) and 75,946 age group-, gender-, and income-matched (1:1) patients without ASD (non-ASD cohort).

Patients with osteoporosis are at an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Several antiosteoporosis medications have been demonstrated with the benefit of preventing osteoporosis. Our aim is to assess the CVD risks associated with antiosteoporosis medications using the National Health Insurance Research Database in Taiwan between 2000 and 2016.

Psychotherapy is a learning process. Updating the prediction models of the brain may be the mechanism underlying psychotherapeutic changes. Although developed in different eras and cultures, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and Morita therapy are influenced by Zen principles, and both emphasize the acceptance of reality and suffering.
