Background: The number of end-stage renal disease patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) who are undergoing peritoneal dialysis is increasing. Peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP) is a serious complication of peritoneal dialysis leading to technical failure and increased mortality in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. The profile of clinical symptoms, distribution of pathogenic organisms, and response of PDAP to medical management in the subset of end-stage renal disease patients with DM have not been reported previously.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aims to systematically evaluate the effectiveness and safety of high-energy extracorporeal shock wave therapy (HEEPSWT) for treating early stage femoral head osteonecrosis (ESFHO), as previous trials have shown inconsistent results.
  • The researchers will gather data from multiple electronic databases and assess randomized controlled trials while carefully evaluating the risk of bias.
  • The findings will compile existing evidence to inform future clinical practices regarding the use of HEEPSWT for ESFHO.

Background: Previous studies have reported that extracorporeal shock wave (EPSW) combined spinal core decompression (SCD) has been used for the treatment of patients with femoral head necrosis (FHN) effectively. However, their results are still inconsistent. Therefore, this study will systematically assess the efficacy and safety of EPSW and SCD for the treatment of patients with FHN.

BACKGROUND The retropancreatic fusion fascia is recognized as the anatomical landmark during retropancreatic mobilization. However, its role in D2 total gastrectomy for proximal advanced gastric cancer (PAGC) remains unexplored. This study aimed to develop the retropancreatic fusion fascia-oriented ex vivo approach for splenic hilar lymphadenectomy (RP-SL) to avoid difficulty in using the total laparoscopic approach (TL-SL).
