Background: The elimination of the causative agent and the facilitation of tissue regeneration are the fundamental objectives of periodontal therapy. Various adjunctive agents have been investigated to optimize treatment outcomes with surgical interventions. Periostin is a matricellular protein predominantly expressed in periodontal tissues, playing a key role in tissue remodeling, inflammation, and wound healing.

The utilization of essential oils (EOs) for protection of oral health represents a longstanding practice. Consequently, in this investigation, essential oil derived from Nigella sativa seeds (NSEO) underwent isolation via the hydro-distillation process, followed by a comprehensive evaluation of its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial activities, and cytocompatibility.

: A narrow alveolar ridge is an obstacle to optimal rehabilitation of the dentition. There are several complex and invasive techniques to counter the ridge augmentation dilemma, with most of them exhibiting low feasibility. Hence, this randomized clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Minimalistic Ridge Augmentation (MRA) technique, in conjunction with low-level laser therapy (LLLT).

Background-chlorhexidine (CHX) is most commonly used as a chemical plaque control agent. Nevertheless, its adverse effects, including teeth discoloration, taste alteration and calculus build-up, limit its use and divert us to medicinal herbs. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the phytochemical composition, antioxidant potential, and cytotoxic effects of extract (ME) over normal human cultured adult gingival fibroblasts (HGFs).

The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antimicrobial properties of an Illicium verum mouthwash.
Methods: The present double blinded randomized clinical trial was conducted on fifty subjects, divided into groups A and B.

Oral health is perhaps the most neglected aspect of healthcare for persons living in rehabilitation centers, compared to the general population. The caregivers play a vital role in administering daily oral care to residents in rehabilitation centers: The aim of the present questionnaire-based study was to evaluate the caregivers' knowledge, attitude and practices towards oral healthcare at centers for the intellectually disabled in the Southern region of Saudi Arabia (SA). The present study was designed as a cross-sectional one-point time survey.

Purpose: Dentin hypersensitivity (DH) is a prevalent painful condition of the teeth, the management of which lies in the obliteration of patent dentinal tubules. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of 5% potassium nitrate (PN), low-level laser therapy (LLLT), and combination of low-level laser therapy and 5% potassium nitrate (LLLT+PN) in patients with fluorotic and non-fluorotic hypersensitive teeth.
Materials And Methods: Ninety self reporting patients with DH completed the randomised, double-blind study.
Background: This preliminary study assesses the effects of initial periodontal treatment on salivary levels of 8-hydroxy-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) as a marker of oxidative stress in patients with chronic periodontitis (CP).
Methods: At baseline, clinical parameters and saliva samples were obtained from 20 patients with CP and 10 patients with clinically healthy periodontium. Saliva samples were collected, and clinical periodontal measurements were repeated at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after initial periodontal therapy in patients with CP.
During the sacred month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from the consumption of food from dawn until dusk. Extended fasting hours produce changes in the body's metabolism during this period. A majority of the population who fast also restrict themselves from undergoing dental treatments due to a fear of breaking the fast.
