Background: The risk of developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) varies among individuals and is related to a variety of lifestyle factors in addition to the presence of chronic diseases.
Objective: We aimed to assess the predictive accuracy of machine learning (ML) models incorporating lifestyle risk behaviors for ASCVD risk using the Korean nationwide database.
Methods: Using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 5 ML algorithms were used for the prediction of high ASCVD risk: logistic regression (LR), support vector machine, random forest, extreme gradient boosting, and light gradient boosting models.
Aims: We aimed to evaluate the comparative efficacy of three treatment modalities for chronic tinnitus: TRT-based directive counseling, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and their combination. Primary endpoints were changes in tinnitus severity and psychological distress; secondary endpoints included treatment response rates and anxiety reduction.
Methods: Forty-one patients with chronic tinnitus lasting 3 months or more of duration were enrolled who were treated at a tertiary hospital between November 2021 and December 2023.
Hearing impairment not only diminishes sound perception but also leads to various secondary disabilities; therefore, proper management is crucial for individual well-being and socioeconomic savings. This study establishes an expert consensus on the treatment of hearing impairment, primarily concentrating on hearing aids (HAs), to assist physicians. A modified nominal group technique was used to collect expert opinions about the management of hearing impairment with HAs.

This study aims to investigate the association between dynapenia and ASCVD risk, evaluate its predictive significance among traditional factors, and explore sex-specific patterns through machine learning models. : This retrospective case-control study uses data from 19,582 participants aged 40-79 from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES).

We aimed to evaluate the impact of short-term tinnitus treatment on cognitive function and identify the effects of various treatment combinations on cognitive and tinnitus outcomes. A non-randomized prospective study was conducted with 32 tinnitus patients at a tertiary university hospital between May 2022 and May 2024. Patients received treatments, including neuromodulation, diuretics, gabapentin, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), anxiolytics, muscle relaxants, hearing aids, and counseling.

A resin tank was designed to maintain the resin at 30, 40, and 50 ℃ during the 3D printing process. Test specimens were fabricated using a commercial dental resin, with untreated resin serving as the control group.

Oxidative stress in skeletal muscle can lead to muscle atrophy through reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced damage and cell death. -Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP), an exogenous ROS generator, induces oxidative stress and cell death in various cells. Sinapine from cruciferous plants possesses beneficial effects, but its role in protecting skeletal muscle cells against ROS-induced cell death remains unclear.

The altered tumor microenvironment after tuberculosis infection appears to contribute to cancer progression. Pleural effusions are enriched in exosomes, which act as mediators of intercellular communication.

The primary outcome is a poor functional outcome defined by a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 3-6 after 3 months of stroke. Employing nnUnet for DWI lesion segmentation, the study utilizes both multi-task and multi-modality methodologies, integrating DWI and clinical data for prognosis prediction.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the electrophysiological characteristics of patients with chronic tinnitus through electrocochleography (ECochG) findings and determine if these findings correlate with specific audiological patterns that could differentiate tinnitus patients from those without this condition.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical records from patients who visited a tinnitus clinic at a tertiary university hospital between March 2020 and December 2023 was conducted. Inclusion criteria were non-pulsatile subjective tinnitus lasting over three months, and ECochG performed at initial evaluation.
Introduction: We aimed to investigate the clinical significance of the loudness discomfort level (LDL) test in tinnitus patients and its relationship with pure-tone audiometry, tinnitogram, and questionnaires.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 320 tinnitus patients who visited a tertiary university hospital's tinnitus clinic and completed LDL tests between March 2020 and December 2022. Epidemiological data and psychoacoustic test results were collected.

Background: Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have a high risk of developing lung cancer. Due to the high rates of complications from invasive diagnostic procedures in this population, detecting circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a non-invasive method might be useful. However, clinical characteristics that are predictive of ctDNA mutation detection remain incompletely understood.

Background: We aimed to analyze and confirm the clinical features of patients with non-lateralized tinnitus and to identify clues that can be used in their management.
Methods: Data from 469 patients who visited a university hospital complaining of tinnitus between March 2020 and December 2021 were reviewed. The patients' medical histories, Tinnitus Handicap Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and numerical rating scale scores on tinnitus awareness, annoyance, loudness, and effect on life, audiological profiles, and quantitative electroencephalography findings were documented.

Soybean () is an important ingredient of cuisines worldwide. While there is a wealth of evidence that soybean could be a good source of macronutrients and phytochemicals with health-promoting effects, concerns regarding adverse effects have been raised. In this work, we reviewed the current clinical evidence focusing on the benefits and risks of soybean ingredients.

Differentiation between benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and early-stage prostate cancer (PCa) is clinically difficult, relying on the information of the patient's symptoms or levels of prostate-specific antigen.
Methods: A total of 42 PCa patients and 11 BPH patients were recruited.
Background: Transcranial random noise stimulation has previously been used to manage tinnitus. This study assessed the feasibility of adjuvant transcranial random noise stimulation with conventional steroid treatment for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss with or without tinnitus.
Methods: Prospective, randomized, single-blind study was conducted in Eulji University hospital.
Lumbar spinal stenosis is a common spinal degenerative condition. Minimally invasive interlaminar full-endoscopic decompressive laminectomy provides greater patient satisfaction and faster recovery than open decompressive laminectomy. The aim of our randomized controlled trial will be to compare the safety and efficacy of interlaminar full-endoscopic laminectomy and open decompressive laminectomy.
