This article introduces a digital technique for virtual articulator mounting by employing the scan of a facebow worn by the patient as a virtual reference. The digital technique enables the transfer of the maxillary arch orientation relative to the cranial base into a CAD-CAM environment (Ceramill Mind; AmannGirrbach), without the need for ionizing radiation or identification of facial landmarks. By digitally aligning the intraoral scans of the dental arches (Trios 4; 3Shape) with a 3D facial scan and the scanned facebow in position (Artex; AmannGirrbach), clinicians can reproduce the cranium-to-maxilla spatial relationship accurately and intuitively.

The current study aims to show the diagnostic challenge of mandibular exposed necrotic bone in a patient with locally aggressive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip and carrying risk factors for osteoradionecrosis and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws. In March 2023, an 80-year-old ex-farmer male patient complaining of feeding difficulty showed a 3 cm area of exposed bone in the left region of the mandible. Background: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws is the most frequent complication in patients treated or in therapy with antiresorptive/antiangiogenetic drugs. The list of medications possibly related to MRONJ onset is constantly growing; we aimed to report on a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (Osimertinib) as possibly responsible for bilateral maxillary necrosis onset in the herein-described case.

Methods: The authors classified the intraoral and perioral capillary-venous malformations by superficial diameter (<1 cm, 1-3 cm, >3 cm) and ultrasonographical depth extension (≤5 mm, >5 mm). All patients underwent pulsed-mode diode laser transmucosal photocoagulation (8-12 W/cm); those with malformations that were wide (>3 cm) and deep (>5 mm) received intralesional photocoagulation, too (13 W/cm).
