Background: Health care continues to advance through digital innovation, and technology-enabled processes and interventions are increasingly being introduced to deliver and expand access to care. In this evolving digital health ecosystem, health care professionals (HCPs), learners, and organizations may not be prepared or equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to navigate these new digital tools while simultaneously sustaining and integrating compassionate care. Moreover, the tools may not be designed and implemented in a manner that facilitates digital compassion.

Despite the availability of multimodal treatments, there is a lack of standardised, patient-centred outcome measures to effectively assess and improve clinical care. This project aimed to define a core set of standardised outcome measures for adults with obesity, incorporating both patient-reported and clinician-reported outcomes.

However, it is currently unknown how Tele-CBT impacts outcomes long term, and if differences in weight loss trajectories following Tele-CBT emerge with a long-term follow-up. This study aimed to identify whether Tele-CBT remains effective at 18 months post-intervention for improving psychological distress and maladaptive eating, and mitigating recurrent weight gain.

Background And Hypothesis: While early psychosis intervention (EPI) services are effective, care delivery is often inconsistent, particularly in recovery-oriented care. We hypothesized that facilitated implementation of NAVIGATE, an evidence-based, standardized model of coordinated specialty care, would increase fidelity to EPI standards and improve patient functioning in real-world settings.
Study Design: The Early Psychosis Intervention-Spreading Evidence-based Treatment (EPI-SET) study was a non-randomized effectiveness-implementation hybrid type III trial in 6 Ontario EPI programs.

Women with severe mental illness (SMI) are 50% less likely to receive mammograms and 36% less likely to undergo cervical cancer screenings. Barriers such as stigma, limited access to healthcare, and poor integration between mental health and primary care contribute to these gaps. This project aimed to improve cervical and breast cancer screening rates among long-stay female patients with SMI at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada using smart electronic health record-based solutions.

Individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) face significant barriers to accessing appropriate physical health care, poorer associated health outcomes and premature mortality compared to the general population. This scoping review examines service delivery models and clinical practices supporting the integration of physical health care for adults with SMI within mental health settings, and their outcomes. Searches of four academic databases yielded 65 academic articles.

Despite its advantages, VR use can induce cybersickness, characterized by symptoms such as nausea and disorientation. This study examines the relationship between cybersickness and the degree of physical movement in VR simulations used for psychiatric education.

The goals of our scoping review are to (1) synthesize the literature on percent weight loss targets for adults with obesity and (2) discuss the percent weight loss targets in context with their health benefits.
Methods: We searched Cochrane, MEDLINE, and EMBASE for English language, pharmaceutical, and/or behavioral intervention studies in adults with obesity where the explicit aim of the study was weight reduction defined as a percent of body weight.

Physician burnout continues to be a pressing issue for health care organizations, mainly in addressing the root causes contributing to electronic health record (EHR) burden. This project evaluates a multi-pronged Physician Engagement Strategy implemented at a Canadian mental health hospital, focusing on EHR experiences, leadership, and education. Results have shown improved physician experiences, reduced burnout, and enhanced perceptions of EHR benefits.

Design: Semi-structured phone interviews were conducted with PLWHF (n=13) and clinicians and researchers (n=9).
Setting: Heart failure remote management programme at a large urban academic hospital in Ontario, Canada.
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Wernicke's Task Force issues the following guidelines to enhance the quality of care in patients undergoing bariatric surgery and for other populations at risk of thiamine deficiency and Wernicke's encephalopathy (WE). This paper examines the current literature regarding the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of WE. These guidelines intend to provide an objective summary of current peer-reviewed literature and provide clinical practice recommendations based on this literature and expert opinions.

As physicians report spending 2 hours documenting for every hour of patient care, there has been strong interest from many organizations to understand and address the root causes of physician burnout due to EHR burden.
Objective: This study focuses on evaluating physician burnout related to EHR usage and the impact of a physician engagement strategy at a Canadian mental health organization 5 years after implementation.
Background: Digital health tools such as mobile apps and patient portals continue to be embedded in clinical care pathways to enhance mental health care delivery and achieve the quintuple aim of improving patient experience, population health, care team well-being, health care costs, and equity. However, a key issue that has greatly hindered the value of these tools is the suboptimal user engagement by patients and families. With only a small fraction of users staying engaged over time, there is a great need to better understand the factors that influence user engagement with digital mental health tools in clinical care settings.

Background: Individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) have higher rates of comorbid physical health conditions, poorer associated health outcomes, and die on average 10-20 years earlier than the general population. This qualitative study aimed to explore the perspectives and experiences of adults living with SMI and family members with accessing physical healthcare within primary and mental health settings in Canada.
Methods: We conducted a qualitative descriptive study using semi-structured interviews with 20 adults living with SMI and five focus groups with 18 family members between July 2023 and April 2024.
Background: There are increasing efforts to include equity in all quality improvement (QI) initiatives. A comprehensive framework to embed equity in QI has been lacking, which acts as a barrier to the QI community from taking action to reduce healthcare inequities.
Objectives: The objectives of this scoping review were to: (1) map and summarise available equity frameworks for QI and (2) create a 'meta-framework' for QI leaders and practitioners, with engagement of people with lived experience of health inequities.
Background: Obesity prevalence continues to rise in Canada, highlighting a growing public health concern. This study updates estimates of the societal cost of inaction in treating obesity, emphasizing the significant economic burden stemming from both direct healthcare costs and indirect productivity losses.
Methods: We combined data from national surveys and published literature to estimate the 2023 national economic implications of obesity.

Introduction: Open-ended feedback from learners offers valuable insights for adapting continuing health education to their needs; however, this feedback is burdensome to analyze with qualitative methods. Natural language processing offers a potential solution, but it is unclear which methods provide useful insights. We evaluated natural language processing methods for analyzing open-ended feedback from continuing professional development training at a psychiatric hospital.

Background: Individuals experiencing serious mental illness (SMI) have higher rates of comorbid physical health conditions, poorer associated health outcomes, and die on average 10-20 years earlier than the general population. They encounter multiple barriers to accessing appropriate physical health care in many countries, including Canada, where policies and practices to promote integrated care delivery to this population remain scant. This qualitative study aimed to explore health provider perspectives and experiences with integrated physical and mental health care within mental health settings in Canada, in efforts to address the health needs of this population.

Seven bibliographic databases were searched using terms for artificial intelligence and continuing health professional education to capture articles that used AI for the purposes of nonpsychomotor skills training for health professions education and involved health care professionals and/or trainees.
Purpose Of Review: To highlight recent research on antidepressant use and weight change and explore best clinical practices for reducing weight gain and obesity risk in individuals with depression.
Recent Findings: Research on antidepressant use and weight gain suggests that genetic and biological factors including metabolizer phenotypes and inflammation can help to predict an individual's threshold for weight change among specific agents. For individuals with increased susceptibility to metabolic complications, medications including bupropion, fluoxetine, and newer agents (e.
