This laboratory-scale study presents the development and validation of a hydraulic fracturing technique to directly measure the tensile strength of cemented paste backfill (CPB), providing an alternative to traditional strength testing methods. Fracture initiation pressure (FIP) was used as the primary measure of CPB strength. Experimental results were compared with traditional benchmark measures such as uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), Brazilian tensile strength (BTS), and critical Mode-I fracture toughness (K).

An unusual mechanism of sideswipe injury in passengers traveling in a train and review of literature.

Introduction: Sideswipe injuries are most commonly described in passengers traveling in a car or bus, but here we report an unusual mode of sideswipe injuries, in passengers traveling in a train sitting on window seats with elbow protruding outside the window.

Case Series: Four patients reported to our Orthopaedic emergency 2 hours after a railway track accident with more or less similar pattern of injury, an open proximal forearm monteggia fracture-dislocation with bone and soft tissue loss along with closed fracture humerus, and with or without radial nerve palsy and intact distal pulses. We followed a multidisciplinary approach with initial wound lavage followed by wound debridement, stabilization of monteggia and humerus fractures with different justifiable modalities of treatment with an exploration of the radial nerve.

Papillary recession is multifactorial, and several surgical, nonsurgical, and minimally invasive techniques have been suggested. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical application of injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) gel for the reconstruction of IDP in Nordland and Tarnow's Class I and II papillary recession cases.

Aspergillus niger-mediated degradation of orthosulfamuron in rice soil.

Orthosulfamuron, a rice herbicide of the family pyrimidinyl sulfonylurea, causes ground water contamination for its moderate persistence and high water solubility. It may cause phytotoxicity and, thereby, affect the growth of succeeding crops. Keeping in view of the environmental safety, the interaction between orthosulfamuron and soil fungi was investigated.

Comparative evaluation of the precision of cone-beam computed tomography and surgical intervention in the determination of periodontal bone defects: A clinicoradiographic study.

Type III monteggia equivalent injury with compartment syndrome in an 8 year old child: A case report.

A rare case of a type III Monteggia fracture equivalent with compartment syndrome is reported here. Literature is very scanty about this rare combination of injuries which we are discussing. Timely intervention can lead to a satisfactory outcome even in these complex injuries.

Hypoglossal Nerve Palsy as a Rare Complication of C1-C2 Pott's Spine.

Reporting a rare scenario of hypoglossal nerve palsy in craniovertebral tuberculosis. Two patients presented in outpatient department with chief complaints of pain in neck, restricted neck movements, gait changes, difficulty in speech and weakness in all the extremities. On the basis of clinicoradiological correlation, the patients were diagnosedwithtuberculosis of C1-C2 spine.

Comparative Study for Assessment of Functional Outcome of Intraarticular AO Type C Distal Humerus Fractures Treated by Parallel Plating.

Background: Complex distal end of humerus fractures are one of the most challenging cases in orthopedics. There is a paucity of literature on outcomes of parallel reconstruction plates using olecranon osteotomy technique along with large sample size. This study focuses primarily on rate of various complications encountered in intraarticular AO Type C distal humerus fractures.

Four Screws Diamond Configuration Fixation for Displaced, Comminuted Intracapsular Fracture Neck Femur in Young Adults.

Background: Four cannulated cancellous screws (CCS) in diamond configuration have been recommended by some authors for fixation of intracapsular neck of femur (ICNF) fracture with posterior comminution in adults. This is also supported by biomechanical studies. However, the clinical usefulness of this biomechanical advantage is not known.

Exposed versus Buried Kirschner Wires Used in Displaced Pediatric Fractures of Lateral Condyle of Humerus.

Background: Comparision of results and complications of exposed versus buried Kirschner wires (K-wires) after open reduction of lateral condyle fractures is scarce and mainly from western population; hence, we envisaged to study the safety and efficacy of exposed and buried K-wires used for fixation of displaced pediatric fracture of the lateral condyle of humerus in Indian setup.

Materials And Methods: A prospective, nonrandomized, comparative study was conducted in 50 patients with age <12 years, presenting with displaced fracture of lateral condyle of humerus of <2 weeks duration, without associated ipsilateral upper limb injury, who were treated by open reduction and internal fixation with either exposed or buried K-wires ( = 25 in each group). At a minimum followup of 3 months, status of fracture reduction, union, evidence of osteomyelitis, carrying angle at the elbow, and elbow range of motion (ROM) were assessed clinicoradiologically.

Ultrasound guided versus landmark guided corticosteroid injection in patients with rotator cuff syndrome: Randomised controlled trial.
