Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a growing global health concern linked to metabolic dysfunction and inflammation. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with its emphasis on restoring balance and harmony within the body, is well-suited to address the heterogeneity of NAFLD. Effective strategies to manage NAFLD remain limited, emphasizing the need for novel bioactive compounds with therapeutic potential.

These compounds have garnered significant attention for their beneficial effects in alleviating diabetes and its complications, such as diabetic nephropathy and diabetic neuropathy. However, their protective effects and mechanisms of action against diabetic cardiomyopathy remained largely unknown.

Recent research has focused on the role of TGR5 activation in preventing or treating diabetes while also highlighting its potential impact on the progression of diabetic complications. Functional foods and edible plants have emerged as valuable sources of natural compounds that can activate TGR5, offering potential therapeutic benefits for diabetes management.

We have previously reported that inactivation of c-kit and stem cell factor (SCF) might reduce interstitial Cajal-like cells (ICLCs) density, leading to gallbladder motility impairment and cholesterol gallstone (CG) formation. Based on bioinformatics prediction, this study explores the possible role of POU class 5 homeobox 1 (POU5F1) in c-kit/SCF regulation and investigates their function in ICLC activity and CG development. POU5F1 was identified as a transcription factor targeting both c-kit and SCF for transcription activation.

Cholecystoenteric fistula (CEF) is a rare complication of cholelithiasis. CEF refers to one or more pathological perforations between the gallbladder and the adjacent gastrointestinal tract, first described by Bartholin in 1645. The aim of this review is to examine the etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of CEF.

However, the impact that product compositional differences and time between cleaning cycles have on the ease of food particulate removal is unclear. In our study, fruit powders were deposited on stainless-steel coupons, then removed using a hygienic brush.
