Purpose: Temporary stays for patients requiring short-term care outside the home, often following hospital discharge, has gained increasing importance. This study aimed to describe the characteristics and care trajectories of older patients in Danish temporary stays to improve care delivery and patient safety.
Methods: We conducted a descriptive study on a cohort of patients in temporary stays across 14 Danish municipalities from 2016 to 2023, using data from national health registries.

Background: Following the mass recall of valsartan products with nitrosamine impurities in July 2018, the number of patients exposed to these products, the duration of exposure, and the potential for cancer remains unknown. Therefore, we assessed the extent and duration of use of valsartan products with a nitrosamine impurity in the United States, Canada, and Denmark.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using administrative healthcare data from the US FDA Sentinel System, four Canadian provinces that contribute to the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES), and the Danish National Prescription Registry.

The aim of this study was to examine variations in use of antidepressants among children and adolescents in the three Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). We identified new users of antidepressants (5-17 years) during 2007-2018 and described the annual incidence rate, treatment duration, concomitant psychotropic drug use, and the clinical setting of the prescribing physician (in Sweden and Denmark). Incident use of antidepressants increased by a factor 1.

Patients And Methods: We reviewed medical records of 1264 women giving birth in the Region of Southern Denmark during 2017. We calculated positive (PPV) and negative (NPV) predictive values, sensitivity, and specificity to estimate the validity of 49 selected variables.

Purpose: To describe utilization patterns, characteristics of users and prescribers of the new oral antiviral medication, molnupiravir, indicated for mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
Methods: Using nationwide registries, we identified all Danish adults who filled a prescription for molnupiravir from December 16th, 2021, to August 31st, 2022. We described weekly incidence rates and patient characteristics over time, prescriber characteristics as well as time between molnupiravir initiation and a positive SARs-CoV-2 test.

Objective: To compare the occurrence of sudden sensorineural hearing loss following immunization with BNT162b2 (Comirnaty®; Pfizer BioNTech) or mRNA-1273 (Spikevax®; Moderna) to the occurrence among unvaccinated individuals.
Study Design: Cohort study.
Setting: Nationwide Danish health care registers comprised all Danish residents living in Denmark on October 1, 2020, who were 18 years or older or turned 18 in 2021.
Objectives: To examine valsartan, losartan and irbesartan usage and switching patterns in the USA, UK, Canada and Denmark before and after July 2018, when the first Angiotensin-Receptor-Blocker (ARB) (valsartan) was recalled.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Setting: USA, Canadian administrative healthcare data, Danish National Prescription Registry and UK primary care electronic health records.
Importance: The direct and indirect implications of the COVID-19 pandemic have been associated with the mental health of children and adolescents, but it is uncertain whether these implications have been associated with changes in prescribing and diagnosis patterns.
Objective: To examine psychotropic medication use and rates of psychiatric disorders in Danish children, adolescents, and young adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This population-based, descriptive register-based cohort study included all Danish individuals aged 5 to 24 years from January 1, 2017, until June 30, 2022.
Aims: The Danish authorities implemented a differential rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines where individuals at high risk of COVID-19 were prioritized. We describe the temporal uptake and characteristics of COVID-19 vaccine recipients in Denmark.
Methods: Using nationwide healthcare registries, we identified all Danish residents ⩾5 years of age who received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine from 27 December 2020-29 January 2022.
This cohort study used data from Danish registers to assess whether recipients of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines had a higher risk of appendicitis after receiving the shot compared with individuals who did not receive the vaccine.

Background: Hypnotic use in children and adolescents is controversial.
Objective: To describe the use of hypnotic drugs (melatonin, z-drugs, and sedating antihistamines) among 5- to 24-year-old Scandinavians during 2012 to 2018.
Methods: Aggregate-level data were obtained from public data sources in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

Background: Diabetes is a frequent chronic condition, which can lead to costly complications if not managed well in the primary care setting. Potentially avoidable hospitalizations (PAH) are considered as an indirect measure of primary care. However, the association between primary care use and PAH in diabetic patients has not been investigated in France.

Thus, there is a need for novel and non-cross-resistant treatment options, and we aimed to address this issue by introducing a new immuno-oncology drug (APO010) in multiple myeloma treatment. APO010 is a hexameric Fas-ligand that mimics cytotoxic T-lymphocyte signaling through the Fas-receptor to induce apoptosis.

Background: Chronic inflammatory diseases in childhood and early adult life share aetiological factors operating from birth and onwards. In this study, we use data from the national Danish health registers to evaluate the risk of developing four common, immune-mediated hospital-diagnosed childhood chronic inflammatory diseases.
Methods: A national population-based registry study.
Diabetes is a diverse and complex disease, with considerable variation in phenotypic manifestation and severity. This variation hampers the study of etiological differences and reduces the statistical power of analyses of associations to genetics, treatment outcomes, and complications. We address these issues through deep, fine-grained phenotypic stratification of a diabetes cohort.

Background: Fulvestrant is a selective oestrogen receptor (ER) degrader used as monotherapy and combination therapy for ER positive HER2 negative advanced breast cancer (ABC) in postmenopausal women. The drug response predictor (DRP), is a mathematical algorithm based on the expression of multiple genes in the tumour. The fulvestrant DRP algorithm has previously shown effect in BC.

We explored the influence of these drug-drug interactions on the clinical effectiveness of warfarin therapy due to atrial fibrillation or heart valve replacement. Using the population-based Danish registers, we performed a propensity-score matched cohort study including around 50,000 episodes of dicloxacillin/flucloxacillin matched to phenoxymethylpenicillin and to no antibiotic, respectively.

Background: Obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) as seen in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a dynamic condition with a wide range of clinical presentations and symptoms.
Case Summary: We report the use of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in a female patient who was resuscitated after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Soon after admission the patient developed critical haemodynamic compromise due to severe obstruction of the left ventricle outflow tract and systolic anterior motion (SAM) of the mitral valve.

Purpose: Anthracyclines remain a cornerstone in the treatment of primary and advanced breast cancer (BC). This study has evaluated the predictive value of a multigene mRNA-based drug response predictor (DRP) in the treatment of advanced BC with epirubicin. The DRP is a mathematical method combining in vitro sensitivity and gene expression with clinical genetic information from > 3000 clinical tumor samples.

Based on a previously validated methodology, molecular profiles of predicted sensitivity in two patient cohorts are presented.
Methods: The profiles are correlations between in vitro sensitivity to cisplatin and vinorelbine and baseline mRNA expression of the 60 cell lines in the National Cancer Institute panel.
