Background: Heart failure is a burgeoning disease that imposes an enormous social and economic burden globally. It presents a significant public health challenge due to its high morbidity and mortality. In recent years, notable advancements have been made in the pharmacological treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), with guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) emerging as the cornerstone of HFrEF management.

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction polypill implementation strategy in Sri Lanka: design and protocol of a pilot type I hybrid randomised clinical trial.

Introduction: Guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) reduces morbidity and mortality and remains widely underused. An HFrEF polypill containing all four pillars of GDMT has been proposed as an implementation strategy to improve GDMT treatment rates and subsequent patient outcomes. We present the design and protocol for a proof-of-concept, pilot type I hybrid randomised clinical trial evaluating an HFrEF polypill compared with usual care among patients with HFrEF in Sri Lanka to evaluate short-term feasibility.

Do gender differences matter in Acute Heart Failure? Insights from Indian College of Cardiology - National Heart Failure Registry, India.

Background: Real-world investigations focused on gender-associated characteristics of Acute Heart failure (AHF) are lacking. The current study, from a national heart failure registry, aims to investigate gender-based patterns and outcomes among AHF patients in India.

Methods: This prospective Indian College of Cardiology National Heart Failure Registry enrolled patients admitted with AHF in 17 centres from 2019 to 2021.

Association Between Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Heart Failure: A Retrospective Study from a Tertiary Care Diabetes Centre in India.

Introduction: The study aimed to explore the association between type 2 diabetes (T2D) and heart failure (HF) using echocardiography and NT-proBNP. The study also derived an NT-proBNP cut-off for diagnosing HF by echo in Asian Indians with T2D.

Methods: A retrospective study was performed using data from individuals with T2D, aged ≥ 18 years, who visited diabetes clinics in India between March 2019 and December 2023.
