Introduction And Importance: Congenital anomalies remain a significant global health challenge, affecting 6 %-8 % of newborns worldwide and contributing to high rates of infant mortality and disability. This case report presents a unique constellation of congenital malformations in a six-year-old male born to consanguineous parents with a family history of metabolic disorders, including maternal diabetes and paternal smoking-both known risk factors for birth defects.

Case Presentation: The patient exhibited a complex phenotype including rib agenesis, hydrocephalus, sacral agenesis, atrial septal defect, and severe lower limb deformities characterized by complete tibial absence on the right and a 180-degree rotational malalignment of the left tibia and fibula.

Objective: The use of an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) has been suggested to unload the left ventricle while on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) for cardiogenic shock (CS), leading to possibly improved in-hospital mortality. However, the predictors of mortality on dual mechanical circulatory support have not yet been evaluated, especially in real-world clinical settings. Therefore, a case-control study was conducted to determine the rate of all-cause mortality associated with VA-ECMO use regardless of left ventricular (LV) unloading, and with early LV unloading in the setting of CS, and to identify the predictors of mortality associated with VA-ECMO, with concurrent early LV unloading.

Four different machine learning algorithms, including Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Multivariable Linear Regression (MLR), Support Vector Regressions (SVR), and Gaussian Process Regressions (GPR), were applied to predict the performance of a multi-media filter operating as a function of raw water quality and plant operating variables. The models were trained using data collected over a seven year period covering water quality and operating variables, including true colour, turbidity, plant flow, and chemical dose for chlorine, KMnO, FeCl, and Cationic Polymer (PolyDADMAC). The machine learning algorithms have shown that the best prediction is at a 1-day time lag between input variables and unit filter run volume (UFRV).

During the first wave of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, a 57-year-old COVID-19 male patient was diagnosed with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction and required urgent coronary artery bypass graft. In-patient cardiac rehabilitation following cardiac surgery was inevitable to limit or prevent various postoperative complications. A routine rehabilitation program was not feasible because of the strict COVID-19 isolation procedures, the high risk of cross infections, and the lack of various resources.

Introduction: Colchicine acts upstream in the cytokines cascade by inhibiting the nod-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome while interleukin 6 (IL-6) receptor antagonists, such as tocilizumab, block the end result of the cytokines cascade. Hence, adding colchicine to tocilizumab with the aim of blocking the early and end products of the cytokines cascade, might reduce the risk of developing cytokine storm.

Methods And Analysis: We aim to conduct an open-label randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adding colchicine to tocilizumab among patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonia to reduce the rate of invasive mechanical ventilation and mortality.
