Biogas generated from anaerobic digestion can be upgraded to biomethane by photosynthetic biogas upgrading, using CO as a bioresource for algal (cyanobacteria and microalgae) cultivation. This allows the upgrading technology to offer economic and environmental benefits to conventional physiochemical upgrading techniques (which can be energy-intensive and costly) by co-generating biomethane with high-value biomass. However, a critical challenge in implementing this technology in temperate oceanic climatic conditions (as found in Japan, and the northwest coasts of Europe and of North America, with average temperatures ranging between 5 and 20 °C) is the selection of algal strains that must be capable of sustained growth under lower ambient temperatures.

Background: There is limited literature on the role of percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) as an adjunct to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). This study evaluates the role of PTBD in patients with failed ERCP or post-ERCP cholangitis.
Methods: Retrospective evaluation of clinical and intervention records of patients with biliary obstruction referred for PTBD following failed ERCP or post-ERCP cholangitis was performed.
Purpose: To compare the success rate, clinical outcomes, and complications of retroperitoneal (RP) versus transperitoneal (TP) percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) of the necrotic pancreatic fluid collections.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study comprised consecutive patients with acute pancreatitis who underwent PCD of lesser sac collections amenable to drainage via both TP and RP routes. The patients were divided into two groups based on the route of drainage (group I, RP, and group II, TP).
Goals: The aim was to assess the effectiveness of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) against medical therapy (MT).
Background: FMT has shown good outcomes in the treatment of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). We aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the effectiveness of FMT versus MT for CDI.
White matter lesions (WML) are common in the ageing brain, often arising in a field effect of diffuse white matter abnormality. Although WML are associated with cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD), their cause and pathogenesis remain unclear. The current study tested the hypothesis that different patterns of neuroinflammation are associated with SVD compared to AD neuropathology by assessing the immunoreactive profile of the microglial (CD68, IBA1 and MHC-II) and astrocyte (GFAP) markers in ageing parietal white matter (PARWM) obtained from the Cognitive Function and Ageing Study (CFAS), an ageing population-representative neuropathology cohort.
