The effect of povidone-iodine 10% plus levofloxacin 0.5% before cataract surgery: a randomized clinical trial.

This study was designed to assess the efficacy of using povidone-iodine (PVI) 10% and levofloxacin 0.5% about one hour before cataract surgery in minimizing aqueous contamination compared with using PVI 10%. The intervention group received three drops of mixed povidone-iodine and levofloxacin (PVI/Levofloxacin) solution one hour before surgery.

Serum androgens and prolactin levels in patients with keratoconus.

Clinical Relevance: There is growing evidence for the involvement of sex hormones in the pathogenesis of keratoconus.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate serum androgen and prolactin levels in patients suffering from keratoconus.

Endocapsular hematoma as an uncommon early postoperative complication of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation surgery.

Herein we describe a 55-year-old woman presented with a chief complaint of visual loss in the right eye of 3 days duration. The patient underwent uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract surgery on the right eye 1 week ago. Slit lamp examination revealed accumulation of blood in the capsular bag behind the intraocular lens with blood level.

Purpose: To evaluate the agreement and interchangeability of noncontact devices of ocular response analyzer (ORA) and the Corvis ST in central corneal thickness measurement.

Methods: In this prospective comparative study, central corneal thickness (CCT) readings of 284 healthy, nonglaucoma subjects, without previous ocular surgery, were measured with ORA and Corvis ST. Only data from right eyes were analyzed.
