Enhancing Bioavailability and Stability of Plant Secondary Metabolites: Formulation and Characterization of Nanophytosomes Encapsulating Red Bryony and Horned Poppy Extracts.

Biocompatible nanocarriers were formulated by encapsulating medicinal extracts from (Red Bryony) and (Horned Poppy) using a nanophytosome approach. The nanophytosomes were prepared by employing a thin-film hydration technique. The SEM results showed a broad size distribution for both nanophytosomes, and the encapsulation efficiency was about 75-80% for both Red Bryony and Horned Poppy nanophytosomes, as confirmed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS).

Cancer has remained to be one of the major challenges in medicine and regarded as the second leading cause of death worldwide. Different types of cancer may resist anti-cancer drugs following certain mutations such as those in tumor suppressor genes, exhaustion of the immune system, and overexpression of drug resistance mediators, which increase the required concentration of anticancer drugs so as to overcome drug resistance. Moreover, treatment with a high dose of such drugs is highly associated with severe normal tissue toxicity.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of heated and unheated palm olein in different doses on the male reproductive system of rats. Forty male rats were randomly classified into five groups (n = 8) including Control, Low palm, High palm, Heated low palm and Heated high palm. The palm olein was administrated orally for 6 months.
