Purpose: Lung transplantation (LTx) is performed as soon as donor organs are made available to minimize cold ischemic time. Studies have suggested that an extended static preservation of donor lung allografts at 10°C may offer similar clinical outcomes with the added benefits of surgery being performed as a semi-elective (SE) procedure. The purpose of our study was to compare the clinical outcomes between a cohort of patients who underwent LTx in the traditional fashion and after a period of static preservation at 10°C.

Endoscopic surgery is now increasingly taking the place of open surgery in urology. Traditionally, endourological procedures are classified as clean-contaminated because the genitourinary tract is colonized by micro-flora, even in the case of sterile urine. The aim of this study was to determine whether a difference occurs in the infection rate after short endourological procedures using standard scrubbing and partial scrubbing techniques before the operations.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFSoftware-defined networking (SDN) is a revolutionary innovation in network technology with many desirable features, including flexibility and manageability. Despite those advantages, SDN is vulnerable to distributed denial of service (DDoS), which constitutes a significant threat due to its impact on the SDN network. Despite many security approaches to detect DDoS attacks, it remains an open research challenge.
