Background: Catheter ablation procedures with transseptal punctures (usually for atrial fibrillation) are often associated with migraine-related visual auras, but the mechanism remains unknown. Whether this phenomenon is mediated by the creation of an atrial septal defect from transseptal puncture or by silent acute brain emboli detected on magnetic resonance imaging related to the procedure remains to be investigated.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether randomization to a transseptal puncture during catheter ablation for ventricular arrhythmias is associated with postprocedural visual auras and assess the relationship between occipital and parietal lobes acute brain emboli and migraine-related visual auras.

Postoperative atrial fibrillation (poAF) is AF occurring days after surgery, with a prevalence of 33% among patients undergoing open-heart surgery. The degree of postoperative inflammation correlates with poAF risk, but less is known about the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving postoperative atrial arrhythmogenesis. We performed single-cell RNA-seq comparing atrial nonmyocytes from mice with and without poAF, which revealed infiltrating CCR2+ macrophages to be the most altered cell type.

Background: Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) may be associated with greater improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction and reduction in death or heart failure hospitalization compared with biventricular pacing (BVP) in patients requiring cardiac resynchronization therapy.
