Background And Aims: Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is a strong surrogate of severity and outcome but its relative prognostic value in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) is yet to be clarified. We compared HVPG in MASLD with ALD and other etiologies according to cirrhosis complications.
Patients And Methods: In our cirrhosis registry RH7, we identified patients with data on HVPG and scrutinized them against the etiology of advanced chronic liver disease (ACLD) (MASLD, ALD, Other) and specific complications of ACLD such as variceal bleeding or ascites.
Respiratory viruses are among the most common causes of human infections. Examining pathological processes linked to respiratory viral infections is essential for diagnosis, treatment strategies, and developing novel therapeutics. Alterations in oxidative stress levels and homeostasis are significant processes associated with respiratory viral infections.

Materials And Methods: Using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium (MTS) assay, we investigated various and opposing effects in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, Hep-G2 and Hep-3B with different p53-status.
Results: Cells decreased in viability after treatment with dose-dependent concentrations of resveratrol and berberine.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is becoming the leading cause of liver morbidity worldwide and, as such, represents the pathogenic background for the increasing incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The annual incidence of NAFLD-related HCC is expected to increase by 45-130% by 2030. Diabetes mellitus is the most important risk factor for HCC development in NAFLD, with the risk further increased when associated with other metabolic traits, such as obesity, arterial hypertension and dyslipidemia.
