Context: Previous animal studies show association between osteocalcin (OC) and type 2 diabetes-related quantitative traits (QTs), with some suggesting these effects being mediated by adipokines. Replication in humans have been inconsistent.
Objective: We aimed to assess the association between osteocalcin and type 2 diabetes-related QTs, and the roles of adipokines on the association between osteocalcin and glucose metabolism.

This is the case of a 33-year-old male with traumatic paraplegic lumbar spinal cord injury after knife assault, who was unable to participate in an intensive inpatient rehabilitation course due to bilateral lower limb spasticity. For therapeutic management of spasticity at the bedside in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, we performed an epidural steroid injection to the right L4-L5 interspace. After the intervention, a significant decrease in spasticity was noted.

To improve the effectiveness of the training, it is advisable to provide feedback to each student tailored to how the student has performed the procedure on each occasion. Current state-of-the-art feedback is based on Checklists and Global Rating Scales, which indicate whether all process steps have been carried out and the quality of each execution step.

Objectives: A coordinated collaboration among different healthcare professionals in Emergency Room (ER) processes is critical to promptly care for patients who arrive at the hospital in a delicate health condition, claiming for an immediate attention. The aims of this study are (i) to discover role interaction models in (ER) processes using process mining techniques; (ii) to understand how healthcare professionals are currently collaborating; and (iii) to provide useful knowledge that can help to improve ER processes.
Methods: A four step method based on process mining techniques is proposed.
