Detecting organophosphorus pesticide (OP) residues is essential for maintaining ecological integrity and monitoring public health concerns. This research developed a novel electrochemical sensor that employed composite materials based on copper oxide (CuO) nanostructures and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), customized with Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), to detect methyl parathion (MP) pesticide with high selectivity and sensitivity. The nanocomposite was synthesized in two facile steps, without the use of stabilizers or dispersants, utilizing a simple ultrasonication and photo-reduction process.

A voltammetric approach was developed for the selective and sensitive determination of hydrogen peroxide using Au plated porous silicon (PSi) nanopowder modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The AuNPs-PSi hybrid structure was synthesized via stain etching procedure followed by an immersion plating method to deposit AuNPs onto PSi via a simple galvanic displacement reaction with no external reducing agent to convert Au to Au. The as-fabricated AuNPs-PSi catalyst was successfully characterized by XRD, Raman, FTIR, XPS, SEM, TEM and EDS techniques.

The direct catalytic esterification of amides that leads to the construction of C-O bonds through the cleavage of amide C-N bonds is a highly attractive strategy in organic synthesis. While aliphatic and aromatic alcohols can be readily used for the alcoholysis of activated and unactivated amides, the introduction of phenols is more challenging due to their lower nucleophilicity in the phenolysis of unactivated amides. Herein, we demonstrate that phenols can be used for the phenolysis of unactivated amides into the corresponding phenolic esters using a simple heterogenous catalytic system based on CeO under additive-free reaction conditions.

The use of triglycerides as an important class of biomass is an effective strategy to realize a more sustainable society. Herein, three heterogeneous catalytic methods are reported for the selective one-pot transformation of triglycerides into value-added chemicals: i) the reductive amination of triglycerides into fatty amines with aqueous NH under H promoted by ZrO -supported Pt clusters; ii) the amidation of triglycerides under gaseous NH catalyzed by high-silica H-beta (Hβ) zeolite at 180 °C; iii) the Hβ-promoted synthesis of nitriles from triglycerides and gaseous NH at 220 °C. These methods are widely applicable to the transformation of various triglycerides (C -C skeletons) into the corresponding amines, amides, and nitriles.

Pd nanoparticles were electrochemically immobilized on a Pt surface in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) molecules to study the electrokinetics of arsenite oxidation reactions and the corresponding sensing activities. The preparation of urea (bonded) cross-linked multilayer thin films by sequential deposition of bifunctional and tetrafunctional molecular building blocks is demonstrated. Multilayer growth as a function of deposition cycles was inspected using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. From infrared results, three characteristic infrared bands of amide I, amide II, and asymmetric νa(N-C-N) stretching confirmed the formation of polyurea networks by alternate dipping into solutions of amine and isocyanate functionality monomers.
