Our ability to predict upcoming events is a fundamental component of human cognition. One way in which we do so is by exploiting temporal regularities in sensory signals: the ticking of a clock, falling of footsteps and the motion of waves each provide a structure that may facilitate anticipation. But how strong is the effect of rhythmic anticipation on perception? And to what degree do people vary in their ability to capitalize on these regularities? In 2015, Hickok .

Data on bone remodeling in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are limited. This 2-year prospective longitudinal study investigated bone remodeling and bone turnover markers at diagnosis, during treatment, and until stopping treatment, in ALL patients < 18 years, to clarify the influence of leukemia itself and/or chemotherapy on bone.

Purpose: This review systematically compared, in a head-to-head manner, the diagnostic and prognostic performance of [F]FDG and [F]FES PET/CT in breast cancer (BC) patients.
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases up to January 2025, without temporal limitations or restrictions on the number of patients in the included studies, to identify relevant articles comparing the diagnostic value of [F]FDG and [F]FES PET in BC patients. Selected imaging studies were analyzed using a modified version of the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklist dedicated to systematic reviews.

We standardized a new version of the Digit span test and the first version of the Bisyllabic non-word span test, both measuring the phonological loop, in an Italian sample of neurologically healthy adults (n = 225). All stimuli were administered to the participants through a computerized procedure to avoid the influence of the examiner on participants' performance. We used a preliminary test to exclude the presence of sensory-perceptual and articulatory-motor difficulties that might have influenced the results.

Novel agents are increasingly used, like brentuximab vedotin (BV), an antiCD30 antibody-drug conjugate, used as a single agent or in combination with classic regimens mainly in adults, while limited is the experience in pediatrics.

Appropriate interventions are needed due to the fact that treatment-induced transformations have been associated with a decline in overall quality of life, interpersonal and sexual difficulties, and adverse effects on therapeutic adherence. In the framework of integrative oncology, beauty therapy is an affordable and straightforward intervention that could be used in the clinical management of breast cancer side effects.

PSYCHOACOUSTICS-WEB is an online tool written in JavaScript and PHP that enables the estimation of auditory sensory thresholds via adaptive threshold tracking. The toolbox implements the transformed up-down methods proposed by Levitt (Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 49, 467-477, (1971) for a set of classic psychoacoustical tasks: frequency, intensity, and duration discrimination of pure tones; duration discrimination and gap detection of noise; and amplitude modulation detection with noise carriers. The toolbox can be used through a common web browser; it works with both fixed and mobile devices, and requires no programming skills.

Background: De-escalation of axillary surgery in breast cancer (BC) management began when sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) replaced axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) as standard of care in patients with node-negative BC. The second step consolidated ALND omission in selected subgroups of BC patients with up to two macrometastases and recognized BC molecular and genomic implication in predicting prognosis and planning adjuvant treatment. Outcomes from the recent RxPONDER and monarchE trials have come to challenge the previous cut-off of two SLN in order to inform decisions on systemic therapies for hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor type-2 (HER2) negative BC, as the criteria included a cut-off of respectively three and four SLNs.

Purpose: to investigate the effects of intensive chemotherapy and glucocorticoid (GC) treatment on bone remodeling markers in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 39 ALL children (aged 7.64 ± 4.
Introduction: Thrombotic events in neonates and children represent a rare although severe occurrence in view of the associated risk of mortality and sequelae. Quality evidence is limited in this field, and registry studies provide an essential base for research. The aim of this paper is to present the new Italian Registry of Infantile Thrombosis (RITI), set it into the scene of international thrombosis and stroke registries, and provide some insight on the challenges associated with registry management.

We performed a systematic review and trial-level meta-analysis of all randomized clinical trials (RCTs) comparing a "limited-extended" adjuvant ET (defined as more than 5 but less than 7.5 years of treatment overall) versus a "full-extended" adjuvant ET (defined as more than 7.

Despite the advent of initiatives to increase transparency in research reporting, the field is still lacking tools to verify the credibility of research reports. In the present paper, we describe methodologies that let researchers craft highly credible research and allow their peers to verify this credibility.

However, limited research has investigated the psychosocial experience of women diagnosed with Locally Advanced Breast Cancer (LABC). This qualitative study aimed at understanding cognitive, emotional and relational factors associated with delayed access to care and treatment decision-making.

Altered body image negatively affects mental health, social, and relationship functioning. While the relationship with a partner is critical for patients' psychological wellbeing and partners can promote positive body image, limited research has investigated individual and relational factors affecting the experience of both.

The violins of Stradivari are recognized worldwide as an excellence in craftsmanship, a model for instrument makers, and an unachievable desire for collectors and players. However, despite the myth surrounding these instruments, blindfolded players tendentially prefer to play modern violins. Here, we present a double blind listening experiment aimed at analyzing and comparatively rating the sound timbre of violins.

We conducted a qualitative systematic review following the ENTREQ (enhancing transparency in reporting the synthesis of qualitative research) framework. A search was made in MEDLINE/Pubmed and MeSH Database using the terms "precocious puberty" AND "brain tumor" OR "posterior fossa tumor" OR "cerebellar tumor" OR "infratentorial tumor", identifying five cases of pediatric patients with infratentorial tumors and CPP and a case of cerebellar ganglioglioma without hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis involvement and/or intracranial hypertension.

In particular, looming stimuli are of relevance because they are expected to enter the individual's interpersonal space representing a potential threat. Different studies showed that emotions can modulate the perception of visual looming stimuli and the borders of interpersonal space, defined as the area around the body that individuals maintain between themselves and others during social interactions.

In the present study, we investigated the efficacy of transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS) combined with an exergame training (physical exercise combined with a videogame) chosen as potential techniques to boost brain functioning and to promote plastic effects in healthy young adults. The aim was to improve the motor response speed and the response time when inhibition was required. Forty-nine participants were randomly assigned to four conditions.
