The cytoplasmic polyadenylation-element-binding-protein-3 (CPEB3) is a functional prion thought to modulate protein synthesis and enable consolidation of long-term memory in neurons. We report a cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-EM) structure of amyloid fibrils grown in vitro from the first prion-like domain of human CPEB3 (hCPEB3), revealing their ordered 49-residue core, spanning L103 to F151. CPEB3 lacking that segment coalesces into abnormal puncta in cells compared to wild-type CPEB3, localizes away from dormant p-bodies and toward stress granules, and lacks the ability to influence protein synthesis in neurons.

Introduction: The generalization of treatment with dexamethasone or other immunosuppressants in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection may increase the risk of occurrence of severe forms of strongyloidiasis. A nationwide survey was conducted to better understand the diagnostic and therapeutic situation of strongyloidiasis in SARS-CoV-2 co-infected patients in Spain.
Materials And Methods: A survey was designed and sent to all SEIMC members during February and March 2021.

Pathogenic clade B New World mammarenaviruses (NWM) can cause Argentine, Venezuelan, Brazilian, and Bolivian hemorrhagic fevers. Sequence variability among NWM glycoproteins (GP) poses a challenge to the development of broadly neutralizing therapeutics against the entire clade of viruses. The synthesis of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) that contain site-specifically substituted backbone heteroatoms is one of the essential goals that must be achieved in order to control the electronic properties of these next generation organic materials. We have exploited our recently reported solid-state topochemical polymerization/cyclization-aromatization strategy to convert the simple 1,4-bis(3-pyridyl)butadiynes into the fjord-edge nitrogen-doped graphene nanoribbon structures (fjord-edge N[8]GNRs). Structural assignments are confirmed by CP/MAS C NMR, Raman, and XPS spectroscopy.
