Peptidoglycan hydrolases facilitate bacterial cell wall growth by creating space for insertion of new material and allowing physical separation of daughter cells. In Escherichia coli, three peptidoglycan amidases, AmiA, AmiB and AmiC, cleave septal peptidoglycan during cell division. The LytM-domain proteins EnvC, NlpD and ActS activate these amidases either from inside the cell or the outer membrane: EnvC binds to the cytoplasmic membrane-anchored divisome components FtsEX, while NlpD and ActS are outer membrane-anchored lipoproteins.

Background: This study evaluated the efficiency CE-latanoprost unidose (cationic emulsion of latanoprost) versus latanoprost unidose (non-emulsion formulation) in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension (OAG/OHT) with concomitant ocular surface disease (OSD) patients' treatment in Spain.
Methods: A cost-utility analysis was performed using a Markov model simulating the progression of OAG/OHT. From a Spanish National Health System perspective over a 5-year time horizon, quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and the total cost of each therapy were estimated (annual discount rate: 3%).
Background/aim: This study aimed to assess the sex-specific prevalence and patterns of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use in patients undergoing radiotherapy, using the standardized questionnaire developed as part of the S3 Guideline on Complementary Medicine in Oncology.
Patients And Methods: Between August and December 2022, 112 out of 697 eligible cancer patients receiving radiotherapy were prospectively enrolled and completed a structured questionnaire assessing CAM use. The questionnaire included 38 CAM methods classified according to their potential for interactions.
Management of advanced stage cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) can be challenging due to lack of durable responses to currently available therapies and their side effects and toxicities. Romidepsin, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, and mogamulizumab, an anti-CCR4 monoclonal antibody, have demonstrated some efficacy as monotherapies, however, survival outcomes remain poor. This retrospective study evaluates the effectiveness of sequential romidepsin-mogamulizumab (Romi-Moga) therapy in 18 patients with advanced CTCL.
