Treatment outcomes of drug-resistant tuberculosis in Sabah, Malaysia - a retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: Addressing drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) is a priority of the tuberculosis (TB) programme. People with DR-TB frequently have worse outcomes and require more costly and complex management, compared with those with drug-sensitive TB (DS-TB). Our study examined the epidemiology of DR-TB in Sabah, Malaysia, a state with high TB burden.

Factors affecting implementation of tuberculosis contact investigation and tuberculosis preventive therapy among children in Sabah, East Malaysia: A qualitative study.

Contact investigation and TB preventive treatment of children under five years of age who are close contacts of a TB case is a key component of TB prevention. However, the uptake of TB preventive treatment is low in many high-TB burden settings. This study explores factors affecting the implementation of TB contact investigation and preventive treatment among children in Malaysia's city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah State.

Predictors of severe COVID-19 among healthcare workers in Sabah, Malaysia.

Background: Healthcare workers (HCWs) is the high-risk group for COVID-19 infection due to increased workplace exposure. However, evidence of the disease burden and factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection among HCWs is limited. Therefore, this article aims to describe the prevalence of severe COVID-19 disease among HCWs in Sabah, Malaysia, and to determine the factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection.

Epidemiology of tuberculosis in Sabah, Malaysia, 2012-2018.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is of high public health importance in Malaysia. Sabah State, located on the island of Borneo, has previously reported a particularly high burden of disease and faces unique contextual challenges compared with peninsular Malaysia. The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiology of TB in Sabah to identify risk groups and hotspots of TB transmission.
