Recent Innovations and Advances in Arteriovenous Fistula Creation: A Narrative Review.

Arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) are the gold standard for vascular access among patients requiring hemodialysis; however, AVF have high primary failure rates. Novel approaches and technologies to improve AVF patency include modifications to open approaches, such as the radial artery deviation and reimplantation fistula, and percutaneous approaches, such as the endovascular AVF. Despite these advances, these modifications are limited in reducing neointimal hyperplasia, stenosis, or thrombosis, and thus have limited capacity to improve AVF maturation and utilization; as such, vascular access requires continued innovation.

We report a study on several static and dynamic properties of the early trivalent liquid rare-earth metals at thermodynamic conditions near their respective melting points. It has been performed by resorting to machine learning (ML) techniques, in which the associated neural network-based interatomic potentials were derived from molecular dynamics simulations within Hubbard-corrected density functional theory. We report the results obtained for the static structural properties, including an analysis of the local short-range order.

Ab Initio Study of the Structures, Bonding Interactions, and Thermal Stability of the Li-Decorated 2D Biphenylene Sheet.

We performed an extensive study on the most stable structures, the electronic properties, and the thermal stability of the 2D biphenylene sheet decorated with Li atoms. Our structural results show that the Li storage capacity of biphenylene is much higher than that recently reported, which increases the interest in this 2D material as a promising anode material for Li-ion batteries, although Li diffusion is not expected at room temperature. Moreover, we found striking phenomena that had not been detected yet, such as the formation of Li zigzag wires and metallic Li monolayers on the biphenylene sheet beyond a certain coverage threshold.

Proteome-wide scale in a dose- and time-depending setting is crucial to fully understand the pharmacological mechanism of anticancer drugs as well as identification of candidates for drug response biomarkers. Here, we investigated the effect of the CIGB-300 anticancer peptide at IC and IC doses during 1 and 4 h of treatment on the squamous lung cancer cell (NCI-H226) proteome. An overwhelming dose-dependent inhibitory effect with minor up-regulated proteins was observed by increasing CIGB-300 dose level.

We hypothesized that tenascin-C (TNC), a regulator of inflammation and immune responses after injury, also regulates venous remodeling during AVF maturation.
