Contemporary cancer treatment strategies are shifting toward targeted therapies to improve efficacy and minimize toxicity. Here, we report the design and preclinical evaluation of MBRC-101, a first-in-class antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) targeting EphA5, a receptor tyrosine kinase with an established role in embryonic development but not extensively studied in cancer. We show that EphA5 is expressed in multiple solid tumors, including cancers of the aerodigestive (non-small cell lung, head and neck, gastric, colon, and pancreatic) and genitourinary (bladder and ovary) tracts, as well as most breast cancer subsets (including triple-negative tumors), with limited expression in normal tissues.

Over the past two decades, 33 cases of colonic adenocarcinomas have been diagnosed in rhesus macaques () at the nonhuman primate colony of the Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The distinctive feature in these cases, based on PET/computed tomography (CT) imaging, was the presence of two or three tumor lesions in different locations, including proximal to the ileocecal juncture, proximal to the hepatic flexure, and/or in the sigmoid colon. These colon carcinoma lesions selectively accumulated [F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([F]FDG) and [F]fluoroacetate ([F]FACE) at high levels, reflecting elevated carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism in these tumors.

This report is a condensation of the ASVCP 2011 consensus guidelines for determination of de novo RI in veterinary species, which mirror the 2008 Clinical Laboratory and Standards Institute (CLSI) recommendations, but with language and examples specific to veterinary species.

In this report, we describe two spontaneous hypomorphic alleles of the mouse Ass1 gene that serve as an animal model of CTLN1. These two independent mouse mutant alleles, also described in patients affected with CTLN1, interact to produce a range of phenotypes.

Previous studies suggest that underlying ovarian stromal cues may regulate the ovarian surface epithelium. However, little is known about the interaction between ovarian stromal cells (OSC) and ovarian surface epithelial cells (OSE) under normal physiologic and pathologic conditions, largely because of the lack of a suitable model. Keratinocytes from skin biopsy samples of four normal dogs and two affected dogs were cultured organotypically with growth factor-supplemented media in order to stimulate cornification. The cultured epidermis from the normal dogs closely resembled the normal epidermis in vivo and cornified.

The dog had mildly regenerative anemia, severe thrombocytopenia and low antithrombin activity. Marked splenomegaly was found on physical examination and imaging studies, and malignant round cell neoplasia and marked extramedullary hematopoiesis were diagnosed on aspirates of the spleen.
