Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS), an extremely rare progressive genetic disorder, is caused by a point mutation in LMNA that induces progerin production, which disrupts cellular function and triggers premature aging and mortality. Despite extensive efforts, HPGS remains incurable. We successfully implemented a strategy using RfxCas13d to selectively target progerin mRNA at specific junction regions, without unintended cleavage and reduce its expression.

Proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) degrade target proteins through the ubiquitin-proteasome system. To date, PROTACs are primarily used to treat various diseases; however, they have not been applied in regenerative therapy. Osteoclastogenesis, the formation of osteoclasts, is primarily driven by NFATc1, a process activated through c-Fos and NF-κB signaling pathways in response to receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL). Dysregulation of RANKL signaling is a key contributor to pathological bone loss, as seen in conditions such as osteoporosis.

The spleen is occasionally referred to as the 'forgotten organ' because splenic lesions are less common and encountered rarely compared to pathologies of other abdominal solid organs. Therefore, although well-demonstrated using various abdominal imaging modalities, radiologists tend to be less familiar with splenic diseases, making interpretation challenging. With the increase in consumer interest in food safety, in this study, we aimed to investigate the antibacterial effect of peraceic acid (A, B, and Daesung; 50-200 ppm) and sodium hypochlorite disinfectants on chicken carcasses and contaminated water, respectively, and changes in the appearance of chicken carcasses. Considering the antibacterial effect of each disinfectant concentration, the most significant antibacterial efficacy was observed for general bacteria and at 200 ppm regardless of disinfectant type. Considering the disinfectant type at 200 ppm, sodium hypochlorite was the least effective, and peracetic acid A showed the highest antibacterial efficacy at all concentrations.

Here, we perform metabolomic profiling of 17 tumor-normal pairs; bulk transcriptomics of 263 normal thyroid, 348 papillary, and 21 undifferentiated thyroid cancer samples; and single-cell transcriptomes from 15 cases, showing the impact of mitochondrial one-carbon metabolism in thyroid tumors. High expression of serine hydroxymethyltransferase-2 (SHMT2) and methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) is associated with low thyroid differentiation scores and poor clinical features.

In response to climate change, wood pellets have been increasingly utilized as a sustainable energy source. However, their growing utilization increases the production of wood pellet fly ash (WA) by-products, necessitating alternative recycling technologies due to a shortage of discharging landfills.
