The regulation of oxidative stress is an effective strategy for treating cancers. Therapeutic strategies for modulating an undesirable redox balance against cancers have included the enhancement of oxidative components, reducing the action of antioxidant systems, and the combined application of radiation and redox-modulating drugs. A precise understanding of redox regulation is required to treat different kinds of cancer.

Among these, the second messenger calcium and its gradient across skin layers are pivotal in regulating keratinocyte differentiation. Additionally, a diverse array of cellular signaling molecules has been identified as essential for promoting keratinocyte differentiation, thereby maintaining skin integrity and barrier function.

A total of 153 newly graduated nurses scheduled for on-site training in a ward nursing unit were divided into a control group (receiving only the usual on-site training with preceptorship) and an experimental group (receiving the developed program with the same on-site training with preceptorship as the control group). Data were collected at baseline, 6 weeks, and 3 months after the intervention.

Purpose: This study has a purpose to investigate the side effects of three EGFR-TKIs targeted therapeutic agents (gefitinib, erlotinib, and afatinib) and all-cause mortality in patients with metastatic lung cancer.
Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study. We selected all patients with newly diagnosed metastatic lung cancer between January and November 2019.
Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) fillers stimulate collagen synthesis by activating various immune cells and fibroblasts. Piezo1, an ion channel, responds to mechanical stimuli, including changes in extracellular matrix stiffness, by mediating Ca influx. Given that elevated intracellular Ca levels trigger signaling pathways associated with fibroblast proliferation, Piezo1 is a pivotal regulator of collagen synthesis and tissue fibrosis.

It transports various ions, including bicarbonate, chloride, iodine, and oxalate. As a multiple-ion transporter, SLC26A4 is involved in the maintenance of hearing function, renal function, blood pressure, and hormone and pH regulation.

The UPS plays critical roles not only in protein degradation but also in various cellular functions, including neuronal signaling, myocardial remodeling, immune cell differentiation, and cancer development. However, the specific role of UBA6 in cellular functions is not fully elucidated in comparison with the roles of the UPS.

Bicarbonate transporters are responsible for the appropriate flux of bicarbonate across the plasma membrane to perform various fundamental cellular functions. The functions of bicarbonate transporters, including pH regulation, cell migration, and inflammation, are highlighted in various cellular systems, encompassing their participation in both physiological and pathological processes. In this review, we focused on recently identified modulatory signaling components that regulate the expression and activity of bicarbonate transporters.

Cholesterol trafficking is initiated by the endocytic pathway and transported from endo/lysosomes to other intracellular organelles. Deficiencies in cholesterol-sensing and binding proteins NPC1 and NPC2 induce accumulation in lysosomes and the malfunction of trafficking to other organelles. Each organelle possesses regulatory factors to induce cholesterol trafficking.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFInsulin resistance is a major contributor to the pathogenesis of several human diseases, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Notably, insulin resistance and hypertension share common abnormalities, including increased oxidative stress, inflammation, and organelle dysfunction. Recently, we showed that excess intracellular Ca, a known pathogenic factor in hypertension, acts as a critical negative regulator of insulin signaling by forming Ca-phosphoinositides that prevent the membrane localization of AKT, a key serine/threonine kinase signaling molecule.
