A core function of episodic memory is to distinguish between overlapping experiences by converting similar inputs into distinct, non-overlapping representations-a process termed pattern separation. While anatomical models emphasize the role of specific hippocampal subfields, particularly the dentate gyrus, CA3, and CA1, less is known about how these computations unfold over time and influence memory-based decisions. Here, we use source-localized magnetoencephalography and computational modeling to examine how theta oscillations from the hippocampus as a whole are related to evidence accumulation during mnemonic discrimination.

Background/objectives: Attention bias (AB) toward food is associated with obesity, but it is unclear if programs designed to reduce AB can impact adolescents' eating behavior. We investigated whether a two-week, smartphone-delivered attention retraining (AR) program (vs a control program) altered food AB in adolescent girls with overweight.

Methods: Participants completed three food-cue visual-probe trainings/day.

Article Synopsis
  • - The NIMH Healthy Research Volunteer Dataset includes detailed physiological and psychological assessments of healthy research volunteers, utilizing a variety of methods like blood tests, mental health evaluations, and advanced imaging techniques (MRI, DTI, MEG).
  • - The dataset is openly accessible in the OpenNeuro repository in BIDS format, along with task paradigms and pre-processing scripts on GitHub, making it a valuable resource for researchers.
  • - Its extensive characterization of a healthy population positions this dataset as a potential key resource for diverse future research in both clinical and non-clinical contexts, especially considering the scarcity of similar multimodal neuroimaging datasets.
