Background: The assessment of drug craving is common in survey studies, including those using real-time data collection methods, such as Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA). However, few studies investigate how participants with chronic pain interpret the word 'craving' and how interpretations impact survey responses.
Methods: We conducted a mixed-methods study among 12 individuals with chronic pain who were using prescription opioids and cannabis.
A recent meta-analysis published in this journal included 27 studies that experimentally manipulated social media use and investigated their impact on mental health outcomes (Ferguson, 2024). The author concluded that social media effects were not statistically different from zero. However, this meta-analysis did not investigate potential moderating effects of length of social media reduction or abstinence interventions.

The current study compared ratings of smoking cessation and urge reduction messages based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (distraction themed) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (acceptance themed) in young adults who smoke.
Methods: A total of 124 intervention messages were rated by an online Qualtrics panel of N = 301 diverse young adults who currently smoked tobacco cigarettes (Age M = 26.
Introduction: This study investigated daily associations between maternal self-efficacy (MSE), drinking self-efficacy (DSE), alcohol urges and alcohol use in the first 6 weeks postpartum, with the goal of informing a tailored just-in-time adaptive intervention for postpartum alcohol use.
Methods: Ecological momentary assessment was conducted with 37 postpartum mothers with pre-pregnancy at-risk alcohol use. Participants completed surveys on their smartphones five times a day for 14 days and reported on MSE, DSE, urge to drink and alcohol use.

However, there are limited data on patterns of opioid medication and medical cannabis use. The current study investigated the feasibility of using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) to assess patterns of prescription opioids and medical cannabis among individuals experiencing chronic pain.

To better understand why, we collected data with 32 young adults ages 18-30 in Northern California who regularly used cigarettes and cannabis and had diverse sexual, gender, racial, and ethnic identities. Geographically-explicit ecological momentary assessment (EMA; 30 days) was integrated with qualitative mapping interviews.

Background: Providers caring for adolescents and young adults with HIV (AYA-HIV) mostly base their adherence counseling during clinical encounters on clinical judgment and expectations of patients' medication adherence. There is currently no data on provider predictions of viral suppression for AYA-HIV. We aimed to assess the accuracy of provider predictions of patients' viral suppression status compared to viral load results.

Background: Postpartum mothers are at heightened risk for heavy episodic drinking (HED). Research with this population is critical to developing acceptable and effective tailored interventions, but new mothers who use alcohol are often reluctant to engage in research due to stigma and fear of child removal. This study examined feasibility of recruitment and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) in early postpartum mothers with histories of HED.

Aims And Methods: This scoping review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate best practices for remote biochemical verification of smoking status. The scientific literature was searched for studies that reported remotely obtained (not in-person) biochemical confirmation of smoking status (ie, combustible tobacco).
Vaccines (Basel)
December 2021
Vaccination is the most effective preventive measure of COVID-19 available at present, but its success depends on the global accessibility of vaccines and the willingness of people to be vaccinated. As the vaccination rollouts are increasing worldwide, it is important to assess public perception and willingness towards vaccination, so that the aim of mass vaccination will be successful.
