Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by mucosal inflammation and debilitating symptoms that considerably impair life quality. UC is particularly prevalent in younger populations, where early diagnosis remains challenging owing to nonspecific symptoms and the potential progression to colitis-associated cancer (CAC). The present study reports on the manufacturing of biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) honeycomb scaffolds with tailored microporous walls using phase separation-assisted digital light processing (PS-DLP). To create micropores in BCP walls, camphene was used as the pore-forming agent for preparing BCP suspensions, since it could be completely dissolved in photopolymerizable monomers composed of triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) and polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) and then undergo phase separation when placed at 5 °C. Therefore, solid camphene crystals could be formed in phase-separated BCP layers and then readily removed via sublimation after the photopolymerization of monomer networks embedding BCP particles by DLP.

This study developed bio-based waterborne polyurethane (BWPU) dispersions containing lignin as a sustainable filler with castor oil (CO), polycaprolactone diol (PCL), or poly(trimethylene ether) glycol (PO3G). The effects of the polyol structure and the presence of lignin on the mechanical performance, thermal stability, water absorption, ethanol resistance, and UV-blocking capabilities of the resulting BWPU samples were evaluated. The results revealed that lignin affects the molecular packing and interchain interactions of CO-based BWPU, thus improving its tensile strength and thermal stability while reducing its water absorption and ethanol permeability.

A wireless impedance monitoring system, called SSeL-Pi, is designed to have cheap, mobile, and handy practical features as compared to wired commercial impedance analyzers. A series of eco-friendly biocomposites with improved mechanical properties and interfacial interaction were prepared by melt-mixing natural fibers using a cellulose acetate derivative as a polymer matrix and used to evaluate their mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties. The natural fiber used as a biofiller was pre-surface-treated by a refining process using alkali and natural enzymes to improve compatibility and increase interfacial bonding with biopolymer substrate. To increase the processability of the cellulose material, the raw material was plasticized and the composition prepared in the form of pellets in a twin-screw extruder by mixing with an additive before being molded through an injection process.
