Importance: Long-term back problems impact an individual's ability to participate in the workforce productively, potentially resulting in financial stress and furthering inequities. Estimates of future productivity losses could inform advocacy and policy making.

Objective: To estimate the productivity losses of long-term back problems in working-age Australians (aged 15-64 years) over the next 10 years (2024-2033).

Objectives: Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person-centred care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards. To address this gap, we explored i) lived experiences of adults with CMSP across domains of the International Classification of Function, Disability and Health (ICF) Framework, and ii) their care experiences, preferences and priorities for CMSP.

Introduction: Nepal continues to face significant challenges with high maternal and neonatal mortality. To improve health and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of reducing maternal and newborn mortality by 2030, Nepal needs to focus on addressing high-burden maternal and neonatal disorders. The objective of the study was to examine the current burden of maternal and neonatal disorders in Nepal and to assess any changes over time.

Objective: This parallel cohort-implementation study, termed MonitOring the health Trajectory of patients with kNee osteoarthritis (MOTION), aims to understand treatment pathways and outcomes for people with knee osteoarthritis referred to Australian public hospitals for orthopaedic assessment (Part A cohort study), and how improving access to first-line care might improve outcomes (Part B implementation study).

Methods And Analysis: We will recruit approximately 400 adults with knee osteoarthritis referred for orthopaedic opinion to one of four public hospitals in Victoria, Australia. A subgroup enrolled in the study (n = 109) will receive improved access to community-based first-line care.

Background: Integrating postpartum family planning services within maternity care, specifically counselling about family planning and postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) insertion, may help reduce unintended pregnancies and related complications. This study explored factors affecting the implementation and scale-up of integration of these services within maternity care in Nepal from the perspectives of healthcare providers and policymakers.

Methods: For this qualitative study, we conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews remotely with healthcare providers and policymakers across all seven provinces of the Nepali maternal healthcare sector until theme saturation was achieved.

Background: Routine collection of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) is increasing within orthopaedic settings. Although PROMs have the potential to aid orthopaedic surgeons in clinical decision-making, surgeon engagement with and use of these data is limited. Identifying and addressing the facilitators and barriers to the use of PROMs data by orthopaedic surgeons may increase their usage in routine clinical practice.

Purpose: To determine the prevalence and incidence of falls and fall-related injuries in community-dwelling older adults with a diagnosis of cancer and examine whether falls prevalence varies with specific cancer characteristics.

Methods: A systematic search of five databases was conducted. Studies that included community-dwelling adults with a mean age ≥ 60 years with a current or past diagnosis of cancer and that reported data on the prevalence and/or incidence of falls and/or fall-related injuries were included.

Objective: To critically appraise the literature on the cost-effectiveness of guideline-recommended treatments for osteoarthritis (OA).

Design: Electronic databases were searched for studies that provided incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICER) for treatments recommended by key international guidelines to manage OA in adults. Treatments were grouped as lifestyle and rehabilitative therapies, pharmacological, injection, or surgical.

Background: Orthopaedic surgeon engagement with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) data has not been comprehensively evaluated, despite increasing uptake of orthopaedic PROMs programmes globally. The aim of this review was to systematically identify, appraise and synthesise qualitative evidence on barriers and facilitators to orthopaedic surgeons' engagement with PROMs data and their use of these data to support clinical practice.

Methods: Six databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, COCHRANE CENTRAL, PSYCINFO, CINAHL and EMCARE) were searched from January 2000-March 2024 to identify potentially eligible qualitative studies.

Background: Given growing demand for hip and knee arthroplasty and unsustainable resource requirements, safe and efficient models of care are critical. This study aims to determine the impact on healthcare costs of implementing an enhanced short-stay model of care (ESS-MOC) for arthroplasty at a national level.

Methods: A budget impact analysis was conducted for the years 2023-2030 in the setting of Australian publicly and privately funded hospitals performing hip or knee arthroplasty.

The burden of chronic diseases in Nepal is increasing due to demographic and epidemiological transitions; alongside the persistent impact of communicable, maternal, newborn, and child health diseases, this critical situation acts as the precursor to rising healthcare costs. Nepal struggles to sustain its healthcare system amidst political instability, pandemics, natural disasters, and slow economic growth, particularly when healthcare funding is mainly dependent on out-of-pocket payments. Nepal requires lower-cost alternative healthcare delivery arrangements to provide high-value care while relieving economic sustainability pressures.

Importance: Structured education and exercise therapy programs have been proposed to reduce reliance on total knee replacement (TKR) surgery and improve health care sustainability. The long-term cost-effectiveness of these programs is unclear.

Objectives: To estimate the lifetime cost-effectiveness of implementing a national structured education and exercise therapy program for individuals with knee osteoarthritis with the option for future TKR compared with usual care (TKR for all).

Background And Purpose:  We aimed to systematically review studies of crosswalks for converting patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) scores used in joint replacement, and develop a database of published crosswalks.

Methods:  4 electronic databases were searched from January 2000 to May 2023 to identify studies reporting the development and/or validation of crosswalks to convert PROM scores in patients undergoing elective hip, knee, or shoulder replacement surgery. Data on study and sample characteristics, source and target PROMs, and crosswalk development and validation methods were extracted from eligible studies.

Background: Population-level data from national arthroplasty registries enable the use and outcomes of arthroplasty procedures to be monitored over time. This study aimed to describe the demographics, indications, and outcomes (up to 15 years) for radial head arthroplasty (RHA) procedures in Australia, as well as the factors associated with an increased likelihood of revision.

Methods: Individual-level deidentified data on demographics and surgery characteristics, including revision surgery, were obtained from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry for all primary isolated RHA procedures that had been performed from 2007 to 2021.

Unlabelled: People living with chronic primary or secondary musculoskeletal pain conditions such as low back pain, fibromyalgia, and inflammatory arthritis typically experience wide-ranging impacts on their physical function, activity participation, and psychosocial wellbeing. These can extend to negative impacts on a person's sexual function and their intimate relationships. While sexual function is an important component of wellbeing, it is often not considered within musculoskeletal pain care.

Background: With advances in health state valuation methods, new value sets may be developed for some countries. Quantifying the impact of moving between existing and new value sets is critical for guiding decisions around utility score interpretation, reporting and comparison with published scores.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine, using large-scale national registry data, how the new Australian EQ-5D-5L value set impacts utility scores for patients undergoing joint replacement.
