Heterocyclic compounds have shown that they hold significant therapeutic activities, highlighting the importance of discovering and developing novel candidates against cancers, infections, and oxidative stress-associated disorders. In this study, we demonstrated the biological activity of our previously synthesized thiazolidinone derivatives (TZDs-1, 6, and 7). Furthermore, we synthesized and structurally characterized a new derivative (TZD-5) using IR, H NMR, and C NMR spectroscopy, confirming the presence of its key functional groups, namely, carbonyl and imine.

Imidazole derivatives are considered potential chemical compounds that could be therapeutically effective against several harmful pathogenic microbes. The chemical structure of imidazole, with a five-membered heterocycle, three carbon atoms, and two double bonds, tends to show antibacterial activities. In the present study, novel imidazole derivatives were designed and synthesized to be evaluated as antimicrobial agents owing to the low number of attempts to discover new antimicrobial agents and the emerging cases of antimicrobial resistance.

Toward multifunctionality, including antimicrobial and optoelectronic applications, herein, we reported the synthesis of a novel Ag(I) complex with 3-oxo-3-phenyl-2-(2-phenylhydrazono)propanal-based ligands including 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)hydrazono]-3-oxopropanal (named as ""), 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-[2-(4-methylphenyl)hydrazono]-3-oxopropanal (named as ""), and 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-oxo-2-(2-phenylhydrazono)propanal (named as ""). The synthesized compounds were characterized through FTIR, H NMR, and density functional theory (DFT). The morphological features and thermal stability were evaluated through transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and TG/DTA analysis.

A sensitive and selective phenothiazine-based sensor (PTZ) has been successfully synthesized. The sensor PTZ displayed specific identification of CN 'turn-off' fluorescence responses with a quick reaction and strong reversibility in an acetonitrile:water (90:10, V/V) solution. The sensor PTZ for detecting CN exhibits the marked advantages of quenching the fluorescence intensity, fast response time (60 s), and low value of the detection limit.

In the study reported in this manuscript, silver/iron oxide nanocomposites (Ag/FeO) were phytosynthesized using the extract of via a green, economical and eco-friendly strategy. The biosynthesized Ag/FeO nanocomposites were characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, FTIR, XRD, TEM, DLS and SEM-EDX analyses. The particulates showed a triangular and spherical morphology having sizes between 25 and 174 nm.
