Patients with autoimmune rheumatologic diseases (ARDs) exhibit an elevated risk for atherosclerosis, not fully accounted for by traditional risk factors alone. This review aims to explore how advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging techniques can provide critical insights into the shared inflammatory pathways that contribute to endothelial damage and the development of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. By highlighting the diagnostic potential and future applications of these techniques, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview for clinicians and researchers.

Objective: The comorbid presence of Rheumatologic Diseases (RDs) and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) substantially accentuates cardiovascular risk. We aimed to compare rates of secondary prevention statin utilization in patients with established ASCVD both with and without underlying comorbid RDs- and to highlight any potential gender, racial, or ethnic disparities in statin use in a contemporary US cohort.

Methods: We queried the electronic medical record (EHR)-linked Houston Methodist Learning Health System Outpatient Registry containing data for approximately 1.

Background: Estimation of long-term risk for cardiovascular events using the SMART (Secondary Manifestations of Arterial Disease) risk score can be potentially valuable in devising risk mitigation strategies.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to apply the SMART risk score to compute the risk for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in the U.S.

Purpose Of Review: In this review, we aimed to summarize the different aspects of the field of cardio-rheumatology, the role of the cardio-rheumatologist, and future research in the field.

Recent Findings: Cardio-rheumatology is an emerging subspecialty within cardiology that focuses on addressing the intricate relationship between systemic inflammation and cardiovascular diseases. It involves understanding the cardiovascular impact of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases on the heart and vascular system.
