A significant number of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are usually diagnosed in advanced stages, that leads to inability to achieve cure. Palliative options are focusing on downstaging a locally advanced disease. It is well-supported in the literature that patients with HCC who undergo successful conversion therapy followed by curative-intent surgery may achieve a significant survival benefit compared to those who receive chemotherapy alone or those who are successfully downstaged with conversion therapy but not treated with surgery.

Background: Melanoma-intrinsic activated β-catenin pathway, the product of the catenin beta 1 (CTNNB1) gene, has been associated with low/absent tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, accelerated tumor growth, metastases development, and resistance to anti-PD-L1/anti-CTLA-4 agents in mouse melanoma models. Little is known about the association between the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) and CTNNB1 gene mutations in stage IV melanoma with immunotherapy response and overall survival (OS).

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is the second most common primary liver malignancy with liver resection with curative intent being the mainstay of treatment related to prolonged survival. Better risk stratification models are needed to optimize patient selection and identify individuals who will benefit the most from an operative approach or alternative treatments due to high incidence of recurrence in patients undergoing resection with curative intent for ICC. Machine learning as well as markers of tumoral biology can generate reliable models that could help in identifying patients at risk of recurrence and worse outcomes.

Background: High tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and hemorrhage are important prognostic factors in patients who have undergone craniotomy for melanoma brain metastases (MBM) before 2011 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). We have investigated the prognostic or predictive role of these histopathologic factors in a more contemporary craniotomy cohort from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). We have also sought to understand better how various immune cell subsets, angiogenic factors, and blood vessels may be associated with clinical and radiographic features in MBM.

Chemotherapy resistance is a rising concern in Gastric Cancer (GC) and has led to the investigation of various cellular compounds. Α functional equilibrium of histone acetylation and deacetylation was discovered in all cells, regulated by Histone Acetyltransferases and Deacetylases (HDACs), controlling chromatin coiling status and changing gene expression appropriately. In accordance with recent research, this equilibrium can be dysregulated in cancer cells aiding in the process of carcinogenesis and tumor progression by altering histone and non-histone proteins affecting gene expression, cell cycle control, differentiation, and apoptosis in various malignancies.
