Background: The Sudan virus (SUDV) outbreaks in recent years including the ongoing outbreak in Uganda created a public health emergency beyond the Eastern Africa region. Currently, there are licensed countermeasures for Ebola virus (EBOV); however, there are no licensed vaccines or therapeutics against SUDV.
Methods: We developed a vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-based vaccine expressing the SUDV glycoprotein.
Background: We have previously developed a DNA-based vaccine, INO-4500, encoding the Lassa lineage IV glycoprotein precursor. INO-4500, when delivered with electroporation, elicited humoral and cellular responses, and conferred 100% protection in cynomolgus non-human primates. Here, we expanded the characterization of INO-4500 assessing immunogenicity and protective efficacy of lower doses and single immunization, and the durability of immune responses.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) causes severe pathophysiology in vulnerable older populations and appears to be highly pathogenic and more transmissible than other coronaviruses.
