In this study, the morphology and ultrastructure of the compound eye of were examined by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), micro-computed tomography (μCT), and 3D reconstruction. Spectral sensitivity was investigated by electroretinogram (ERG) tests and phototropism experiments. The compound eye of is of the apposition type, consisting of 611.

Article Synopsis
  • Callosobruchus maculatus is a major pest in stored grain, causing significant agricultural losses, and understanding its genetic adaptations is crucial for pest management.
  • The study presents a high-quality, chromosome-level genome for C. maculatus, sized at 1.2 Gb, revealing that over 65% consists of repeat sequences.
  • The findings include identifying chromosome 10 as the X chromosome, providing valuable data for researching the pest's adaptive evolution in response to olfactory and hypoxic environments.

The first exploratory study was conducted on the compound eye morphology and spectral characteristics of (Selman & Vogt, 1971) to clarify its eye structure and its spectral sensitivity. Scanning electron microscopy, paraffin sectioning, and transmission electron microscopy revealed that has apposition compound eyes with both eucones and open rhabdom. The micro-computed tomography (CT) results after 3D reconstruction demonstrated the precise position of the compound eyes in the insect's head and suggested that the visual range was mainly concentrated in the front and on both sides of the head.

Background: The randomized trials which include ACOSOG Z0011 and IBCSG 23-01 had found that the survival rates were not different in patients with cT1/2N0 and 1-2 sentinel lymph node (SLN)-positive, macro/micrometastases who underwent breast-conserving therapy, and micrometastases who underwent total mastectomy (TM), when axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) was omitted. However, for patients with cT1/2N0 and 1-2 SLN macrometastases who underwent TM; there was still insufficient evidence from clinical studies to support whether ALND can be exempted. This study aimed to investigate the risk factors of non-sentinel lymph node (nSLN) metastasis in breast cancer patients with 1-2 SLN macrometastases undergoing TM.

Background: Polymorphism in miR-27a rs895819 has been associated with breast cancer (BC) risk, but studies have reported inconsistent results. This meta-analysis investigated the possible association between miR-27a rs895819 polymorphism and BC risk.

Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases were systematically searched to identify relevant studies in English and Chinese.

As solitary nymphal parasitoids of Paratrioza sinica, the ectoparasitoid Tamarixia lyciumi and the endoparasitoid Psyllaephagus arenarius act as effective biocontrol agents. Thus, it is necessary to facilitate mass productions of both species. Despite showing an excellent parasitic ability, Ps.

Article Synopsis
  • Bilobalide (BB) is a natural extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves that helps protect brain cells.
  • This study found that BB reduces harmful proteins related to Alzheimer's disease by affecting a specific cell signaling pathway called PI3K.
  • BB might work by changing the activity of a protein called cathepsin B, which helps lower the levels of these harmful proteins in the brain.

Objective: To evaluate the types and compositions of oxide films formed during porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) firing on three kinds of dental casting alloys, and to investigate the corrosion property of these alloys in Dulbecco's modification of Eagle's medium (DMEM) cell culture fluid, before and after PFM firing.

Methods: Specimens of three dental casting alloys (Ni-Cr, Co-Cr and Ni-Ti) before and after PFM firing were prepared, and were immersed in DMEM cell culture fluid. After 30 days, the type and concentration of released metal ions were measured using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES).
