We present a method of deoxygenative deuteration of aldehydes (DDA) over heterogeneously superwetting porous carbon-supported palladium catalyst (Pd/SPC), which is efficient for the synthesis of deuterated aromatic compounds with -CD group. Exemplified by the DDA reaction of 2-naphthaldehyde (2-NAL) to 2-methylnaphthalene (2-MNE), the total deuterium incorporation radio in the resultant aromatic hydrocarbons was higher than 95% and the selectivity toward 2-MNE-d reached 87%. The impressed catalytic activity was found relevant to the combined effect of surface wettability and the electron-rich properties of Pd species of this kind of heterogeneous Pd/SPC catalyst.

Background: As a first-line treatment regimen for () infection, antibiotic therapy is widely used worldwide. However, the question of increasing antibiotic resistance must be considered. Given this issue, we need to find ways to reduce drug resistance.

The present study was designed to assess the effects and potential mechanisms of ginsenosides on 17[Formula: see text]-ethynyelstradiol (EE)-induced intrahepatic cholestasis (IC). Ginsenoside at doses of 30, 100, 300[Formula: see text]mg/kg body weight was intragastrically (i.g.

Intrahepatic cholestasis is a main cause of hepatic accumulation of bile acids leading to liver injury, fibrosis, and liver failure. Our previous studies proved that (CBS) can restore biliary transport function through upregulating the multidrug resistance-associated protein 2 (MRP2) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) in 17-ethynylestradiol- (EE-) induced intrahepatic cholestasis rats. The regulation mechanism of CBS on these transporters, however, remains unclear.

Two common drinking water earthy/musty odorants, 2-methyl-isoborneol (2-MIB) and trans-1,10-dimethyl-trans-9-decalol (geosmin), were monitored and analyzed for their correlation with environmental conditions in Feng-Shen Reservoir (FSR), Taiwan. Long-term monitoring results, from December 2000 to July 2003, indicated that 2-MIB was present in the reservoir at concentrations between 10 and 200 ng L(-1), and those of geosmin were always smaller than 10 ng L(-1). The 2-MIB concentrations followed a trend of higher concentrations during the warm seasons.
