Unlabelled: Training people interested in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is important to promote skill gains. A recommended training package is called behavioral skills training (BST), which involves four components (didactic instruction, modeling, role-play, and performance feedback).
Background/objectives: The purpose was to assess the effects of BST on the accurate teaching of multiple skills via DTT by six psychology university students to a confederate and six children diagnosed with ASD.
Studies showed that Brazilian Amazon indigenous territories (ITs) are efficient models for preserving forests by reducing deforestation, fires, and related carbon emissions. Considering the importance of ITs for conserving socio-environmental and cultural diversity and the recent climb in the Brazilian Amazon deforestation, we used official remote sensing datasets to analyze deforestation inside and outside indigenous territories within Brazil's Amazon biome during the 2013-2021 period. Deforestation has increased by 129% inside ITs since 2013, followed by an increase in illegal mining areas.

Such increase can beexplained by the drastic decrease in 17-β-estradiol hormone during menopause and associated with endothelium-dependent vascular dysfunction. The current treatments for cardiovascular diseases (e.

Introduction: Asthma is a disease that has been associated with the presence of different genetic and socio-environmental factors.
Objective: To identify and evaluate the seasonality of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human rhinovirus (RV) in asthmatic children and adolescents in tropical climate, as well as to assess the socioeconomic and environmental factors involved.
Methods: The study was conducted in a referral hospital, where a total of 151 children were recruited with a respiratory infection.

Background: The Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) is a questionnaire that was developed by Finnish researchers to track the risk of diabetes.
Objective: To translate, cross-culturally adapt and validate the FINDRISC for use in Brazilian Portuguese.
Design And Setting: Questionnaire validity study conducted at a private university.

February 2020
Background: The infections caused by fungi represent a global concern and an important cause of hospital admissions in endemic areas. The influence of socio-environmental factors in infectious diseases has been documented; however, this phenomenon remains unclear regarding mycoses.
Objectives: This study aimed to analyse the spatio-temporal dynamics of hospitalisations for mycoses (HM) and the association with socio-economic and climate data in the Amazon-Savanna Transition Region in the state of Maranhão, Brazil.

Sickle cell anaemia is one of the most common hemoglobinopathies worldwide and an important public health problem in Brazil. This study evaluated the prevalence of sickle cell anaemia and its traits in newborns from the Amazon-Savanna Transition Region in the state of Maranhão, Brazil. A cross-sectional study was carried out, based on data from neonatal screening tests performed in 2013-2015 in Maranhão.

The animals were divided into 5 groups: Control, Ovariectomized + SHAM sedentary (OVX+SHAMSED), OVX+SHAM and ET (OVX+SHAMET), OVX + Myocardial Infarction sedentary (OVX+MISED), and OVX + MI and ET (OVX+MIET). ET protocol (60 minutes/day, 5x/week) in a motorized treadmill began 15 days after MI and lasted 8 weeks.

Background: Physical examination and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) have been used to estimate hemodynamics and tailor therapy of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) patients. However, correlation between these parameters and left ventricular filling pressures is controversial.
Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of physical examination, chest radiography (CR) and BNP in estimating left atrial pressure (LAP) as assessed by tissue Doppler echocardiogram.

There has been an increase in deaths from cardiovascular diseases following breast cancer therapy. Evidence has shown that this outcome is, in part, associated with cardiotoxicity induced by the chemotherapeutic drugs and the increase in oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of chemotherapy and hormone therapy with tamoxifen on the biomarkers of cardiac injury and oxidative stress in women with breast cancer.

These differences could explain the low incidence of cardiovascular disease in women in the reproductive period, such as stroke, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. The cardiovascular protection observed in females has been attributed to the beneficial effects of estrogen on endothelial function.

Background: The dual antiplatelet therapy with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and clopidogrel is the cornerstone of treatment for patients undergoing angioplasty with coronary stent implantation. However, some of these patients, despite the use of aspirin and clopidogrel, are not effectively anti-aggregated, a phenomenon known as resistance to antiplatelet agents. Its prevalence, as well as the conditions associated with it, is unknown in our country.

In the past two years we observed several changes in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of patients with acute heart failure (acute HF), which led us to the need of performing a summary update of the II Brazilian Guidelines on Acute Heart Failure 2009. In the diagnostic evaluation, the diagnostic flowchart was simplified and the role of clinical assessment and echocardiography was enhanced. In the clinical-hemodynamic evaluation on admission, the hemodynamic echocardiography gained prominence as an aid to define this condition in patients with acute HF in the emergency room.

Methods: Over a period of 12 months, we followed 60 women with breast cancer. The women were divided into the following groups: a group that received only chemotherapy (n = 23), a group that received chemotherapy plus tamoxifen (n = 21), and a group that received only tamoxifen (n = 16).
Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) using fluorine-18-deoxyglucose ([18F]-FDG) for the evaluation of a solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN).
Methods: Prospective analysis of 53 consecutive patients submitted to PET/CT between March 2005 and May 2007 for the evaluation of an SPN. Of those, 32 met the criteria for inclusion in the present study.
